He had to be his own enforcer.

He did it by being worse than the offender in a lot of cases.

There was a funny story from an old timer who used to do color commentary for the Sabres - Jim Lorentz. He retells a tale about the first time he's playing Gordie and Gordie was his boyhood hero and this game against the Wings was in either 68 or 1969. So they go into the corner and Howe hits him with an elbow, then starts jabbing him in the arm, buttending him just below where the old shoulder pads would end. Every shift, some sort of whack on the arm from either end of Howe's stick. He said his arms weight a million pounds by the end of the night and he needed ice for the bruising but he didn't care because he got to play in a game with Howe.

i remember he got 10 games for leaving the bench to join a fight against colorado a few seasons prior to the steve moore incident.

the steve moore incident is dirty enough to land him on the list by itself. one of the dirtiest and most cowardly acts in somewhat recent history.
In Bertuzzi's case, wasn't sure if he had more. I do believe people do stupid things at times but nor sure if it means they are horrible people. This isn't me defending Todd btw.

I guess case and point, is Scott Niedermayer on the dirtiest player list?

I think the intent and actual injury blurries the line in terms of how we look at the incident.

Matt Martin "almost" went Bertuzzi on Max Talbot but the results were different. If Talbot falls and cracks his head open, Matt Martin would be on this list.

Matt Martin is 2nd all time in hits with 3922 hits and he got a 1 game and a 2 game suspension (10 games from the Talbot incident) in his career yet most won't label him as a dirty player.

Kadri. Even if he hasn't been suspended in a few years, he's still got his usual shitbag tendencies. Went to a Jets/Flames preseason game 2 years ago and he slewfooted a guy. It's f***ing preseason ffs.

He literally doesn't know how not to be a shitbag. Even when he won the cup he was more concerned with beefing people

Isn’t he the most suspended active player?
5 or 6 multi game suspensions?

Now I can't actually prove this, but I'm almost certain that every Shane Doan jersey has the elbows worn out from elbowing (or attempting to elbow) over 90% of the league.

Blah blah, nice guy, played for one franchise, but absolute sneaky dirty player.

Trouba's whole thing is that he throws big devastating hits that are clean.

Clean...
