NHL can't laterally change the rules to reduce head injuries themselves. Union has to agree to those rule changes themselves thus it becomes a CBA issue.

Maybe this would get players to knock it off with the dumb stupid hits that cause head injuries.

@gstommylee yes, they cannot unilaterally make rule changes, but they can propose them to the competition committee which makes recommendations and the GMs vote on it.

Not a direct CBA discussion item. But could be involved in CBA discussions, especially if the union wants $$ for long term care and/or research.

i don't see NHL/PA banning fighting/body checking. Players want to be able to police themselves and the league wants the sport to be exciting for the fans.
