Jersey is hideous but even more confusing other than the region the Sharks don't have any connection to them Seals>Barons>North Stars (merged)>Dallas Stars
I think being from the same region is a pretty huge connection.

How many teams have based a retro jersey off a team that it doesn't have a connection to? The Dallas Stars' winter classic was based off a team that it didn't have history with only a region connection.

Vegas' retro is based off the Las Vegas Thunder, again no team connection just a region connection.

I would be willing to beat that if you surveyed a group of Seal fans today they would most likely be Shark fans and not Stars fans. Teams might move regions but fans for the most part do not.

I'm hardly a traditionalist but this is getting silly.

I can already see it on draft day in 2027 when the #1 pick overall is being interviewed.

Reporter: How exciting is it to be chosen first overall in the NHL draft.

Player: I always dreamed of wearing this (insert team) jersey.

Reporter: So which of the 4 jerseys did you dream about.
That's absurd. Have they ever asked which of a team's two jerseys they'd dreamed about wearing?

For Clarity this is what the icethetics article says about the Ducks jersey. That photo is indeed a recolouring/photoshop of the original Wild Wing jersey by the author to illustrate what they believe the Ducks are going to go with as their 4th.

“This report originated on Reddit via a trusted eBay seller called benhsports, who specializes in licensed NHL jerseys. The Reddit poster asked the seller if he knew anything about a forthcoming orange Wild Wing jersey for the Ducks. He responded by saying:
The orange part I don’t know anything about. The Wild Wing part however, my Adidas distributor said, “duck breaking through ice,” so I take that to be a variation on the Wild Wing. Again, what color the jersey will be, I don’t know. I’ve not heard orange or not orange. No idea. And by the way, I have a ton of Ducks secured and allocated to me so it had better be Wild Wing.
The seller, benhsports, was also quick to point out that this is “what I am given to understand... not official fact.”

So very much still a rumour, but also plausible based on what the Adidas distributors described and what we currently know about the NHL’s reverse retro 4th Jerseys.

There is a rumor going around in the world of twitter that the Ducks 4th will be the flying wild wing on a black jersey

A lot of jersey rumors lately...

Yeah, this might be the most interesting offseason jersey wise. It’s going to be an overload of jerseys coming in the coming months. I imagine if fans aren’t attending games this is one of the ways they are going to try and make up a bit of that loss.

I predict this will last 1 season then disappear into the ether where it belongs.
I predict this will continue as long as fans buy the jerseys.

Its an easy way to make a quick buck. And if they change them annually, then mistakes are only short lived. And its a good way to try things out.

I personally hope the league continues doing this going forward. Let teams have a little fun with an alternate every year.

Can't wait to see the Canes doing the Storm Surge in a red and black Whalers jersey in the near future.

Traditionalists will lose their minds!

The VGK one is fine. Hockey fans taste in jerseys is:
Old logo, preferably Og Six
One stripe or possibly even 2 on the armpiece part of the jersey
Red, blue or both color(s) accented with white

Everything else sucks and you're never allowed to go original, just like how the Preds are the only team using yellow jerseys (before the knights now)
While I agree that hockey fans will like anything that is considered old and nostalgic, the Preda are hardly the first team to wear all yellow/gold.

Penguins, Kings, Vancouver large v jerseys, Golden Seals, Bruins all had yellow jerseys before Nashville. I am probably forgetting a team or two.

Well if you look at the NBA they have New Jerseys each year as a part of their City line and their Earned line which appears to be returning this year. The NBA is the League the NHL competes with the most so it wouldn’t Surprise me it they took a page out of their playbook.
