What about games airing on Hulu? Are those exclusive just like the 75 ESPN+ games?

So if you want ALL the games you will need ESPN/ESPN2/ABC/TNT/TBS/ESPN+/HULU

GOOD LORD

edit: Ok, I read that the 75 games will be on both Hulu and ESPN+. No need for both.

Who gets the audio rights to the game. If I’m traveling and want to listen to the games on Apple Car Play (Android Auto) will I still be able to do that. Preseason is almost here and I think it would be nice for the NHL and ESPN and Turner to explain the specifics of this new deal. We got the general gist back in April, but what is actually going to happen and how will this year be different. Do they even have the national tv schedule yet?

NHL app always has free audio. Should not change this year.

Are the ESPN+ exclusive games 100% exclusive to ESPN+ -- i.e. local markets won't be showing it on tv even? And center ice won't have it?

I have CI and have no interest at all in getting ESPN+ but it sounds like I may have to if the Canes are one of those exclusive games if I want to watch all the Canes games... That's bullshit.

From the looks of it - yeah those 75 exclusive ESPN+ games will only stream on ESPN+.

I do agree with your sentiment though - the league went for the $$$ instead of thinking over how this might affect peoples viewing habits/ability...I myself had been looking to ditch DirecTV for a while - the new deal with ESPN more or less was what I needed as an incentive.

I line in Canada and want to watch as many Devils games as possible. What are my options ? NHL live or NHL TV ? Is centerice still an option ?

nhl live is still available in canada as well as centre ice (check with satt/cable provider on the latter)

Shame that NBC couldn't put together a good enough bid for the NHL. They just launched Peacock and need more sports content on it.

Should note that up until this summer (when it sold its stake to Disney), the NHL had an ownership stake in the technology behind Disney’s streaming platforms. In terms of a streaming outlet I think they always wanted to be apart of Disney+ and their bundle vs being in Peacock. And based on subscriber numbers that is probably a good choice.

That said the linear portion of the ESPN deal leaves a lot to be desired

This site has the preseason and season week 1 schedule with TV coverages (except ESPN+):
NHL games today: Key dates, preseason and 2021-22 regular season schedule
Don't know whether this includes Canada TV coverage.

This is not accurate. Whoever did this just filled in the team’s regular regional broadcaster, without knowing if they are actually broadcasting the game. For instance it has already been reported that the Kings-Golden Knights game on Sept. 30 will air on TNT. Also, traditionally for the Devils and Islanders only pre-season games against the Rangers (and maybe each other) are broadcast on MSG or MSG+.

Will my ESPN+ subscription include the NHLTV/Center ice games or will I need to pay a separate subscription for that?

By all accounts (including some from ESPN+ and NHL) all he game you would have gotten with NHL.tv will be included in a standard subscription package for ESPN+. My guess there thinking is with each team having upwards of 8 exclusive games to ESPN+ they will get more
Subscribers to offset the lower cost compared to what NHL.tv was.

I'm going to guess that the one difference will be that the nationally televised games on TNT won't end up as replays on ESPN+, whereas all the replays of NBC/NBCSN games would show up after the fact as replays on NHL.tv. Small difference but could matter to some.

This does make since when considering the NHL Center Ice package has been discounted for those with cable/satellite tv (trying to keep the customers that they have).

I'm not paying for more streaming services. This is exactly the type of shit I was worried about when ESPN came on board. I'd rather have had NBC stick around. At least I only have to worry about the 4 away games...

Got my early bird pricing email today for NHL Live. I’m a bit weary about subscribing this year since we can’t know if the season will be cut short again. Hope not.

If I sign up for espn+, will I be able to stream games in Canada? I would assume using the nhllive/nhl.tv app like last year or will they have a new app?

Nhllive: $180CAD (early bird pricing)
ESPN+: $70USD

Pretty big difference in pricing.

ESPN+ is only for the 'Murican market.

Will the games be archived like they were on NHL.tv on ESPN+ so you can watch all of a games at your convenience all year long?

$35 is the difference in price between Bell Centre Ice and NHL Live here in Canada.

Is $35 worth the hassle of having to change my Input on the TV, load the App on my Roku stick and find the game? All I have to do with Bell CI is press the Guide button.

NHL Live is all upfront, at least Bell split the cost into 4 payments.
