So the Sabres/oilers was on ESPN+ tonight but I'm not seeing the game on the app in Live or on demand. Are the ESPN+ games not made available immediately after they finish? There are other available games from tonight in the on demand...

John Forslund, Kenny Albert, Gord Miller, Ray Ferraro, Strader and Engblom

f*** even Cuthbert and Hedican were miles better than anything ESPN puts out.

This shit sucks and yeah its way cheaper, but IDGAF about cheaper. I will gladly shell out for a good product and honestly, NHL.tv and NBC were way f***ing better.

I can home to watch in the crease and the app won't open. Tried uninstall and reinstall. It says it had an update. But still doing the same so maybe it's related to your issue

The game showed up shortly after my post, must have been archiving or something.

Haven't been all that impressed with the whole ESPN+ experience so far, to put it kindly

I don't like the whole "It's cheaper" argument because we lost quite a few features form the other NHL.TV that I don't think ESPN will actually improve. The reason why this product is cheaper is because the quality of the product went down significantly.

This man announced The Rush where he said he wouldn’t talk and then he proceeds to mumble under his breath about what’s going on.

What the hell is that lmao.

Regardless of the commentating, I'd pay a good amount for an option NOT to hear the commentary for a game. The game sounds... SO... GOOD.

That Rush bit where there was complete silence was the best part of the game, even though the barn was dead and not much was going on. That mumbling though and then just like gradually starting to commentate was super odd.

How is ESPN + doing better?

NBC - Let's only just show the original six and US teams with superstar players. (That worked well LOL)

ESPN + this week

They are showing “off marquee” games because the goal is to get fans from all all 25 us teams to subscribe, so each team is maxed out on appearances. Ratings don’t matter.

Since I still have the NHL app on my Roku (and it's still good for highlights), I'll sometimes accidentally click on that out of habit instead of ESPN+.

And then I get sad because I have to go to ESPN+ and can't start a game from the beginning and can't jump ahead by period with one click and I might see the time of game when I fast-forward and I might see spoilers showing the highlights/results of games when I try to get to the games.

Of course none of this is being changed/improved. I'm not holding my breath, either--I don't want to turn blue. Instead I now have Center Ice on top of ESPN+ and I'm paying what I did in the past but am still getting less. The story of life in America in 2021.

I have a weird situation and so far ESPN isn't any help. The other night, I was blacked out of the Kraken/Ducks game. I was curious why so I called up ESPN and they didn't know. They told me to contact my internet provider. Well, tonight I'm blacked out of the Kraken/Wild game and I'm currently watching the San Jose Sharks on ESPN Plus. I live in the Bay Area, about 20 minutes north of San Jose. Basically my ESPN+ subscription thinks I live in Seattle, even though I don't, and it should be geo-based anyway so if I travel, I would be blacked out of those teams. It's worse when you go to Reno and you are blacked out of the Sharks and Golden Knights, or it's more worse when it's Vegas and you are basically blacked out of the entire west coast of games. ESPN doesn't know what is going on so they have reached back to the back office and I am expecting a callback.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Not sure what to do.

I really hate the watch ESPN app. It’s insane with all the money ESPN has, it’s so bad. And 99% of the issues could be solved with just a favorites row. They’ve saved my favorites. I can see it. But apparently they only use that info if there’s a live event right now. Espn doesn’t seem to understand that I’d rather see a replay/highlights of a team I care about than the live African soccer qualifiers. Netflix, Hulu, etc. all have a “my stuff” tab/row. Just give me that.

Sounds like a technical mess. I suspect you may need to talk to your internet provider's engineer shop. It may be that your router's ISP is registered with some location other than your actual address.
Oops - my error. Should be IP address, not ISP.

The NHL territories are horrible at times. For example, before the Kraken entered the league Seattle was the Avs territory. Seriously.

That doesn't explain why all of a sudden I'm able to see the Sharks in Market on ESPN+. According to the App, or my IP Address, ESPN thinks I live in Seattle when I don't. Also, it should all be geo-based anyway, so if I travel, whatever the network is will impact what games I watch.

I also tried to access the Seattle game from last night on my cellular network, which is Verizon. I still could not, so I'm not sure if it's my internet provider. I am learning a lot about IP addresses in the last 24 hours though.

Nope. Not as of yet. It's one of my biggest issues with the service moving to ESPN+, because I often watch the same way you do.

Instead, you've got perform some sort of contortionist's trick, holding up a hand to cover where the score would be while rewinding to try to find the start of the game.

Or if you wait until the game is over to watch the replay, they show the full game time on the DVR controls--say, 2:34:36, which would clearly indicate a game didn't go to overtime, which would matter a lot if your team is down a goal with a few minutes to play. Pretty obvious what the outcome will be. Same as if the full game time is something like 2:56:29, which pretty much guarantees there's a shootout. A lot of people who see that won't even watch the game then, just the highlights.
This sums up my 2012—2020 experience with nhl.tv perfectly. The lack of customization ruined it.

Question: Has this been fixed for the current 2021/2022 NHL season, i. e. are the skip bar (progress indicator) and the total time display hidden when the "hide scores" option is switched on? Still hesitating with subscribing...

ESPN+ hasn't changed a damn thing yet. I'm getting better at my yoga moves to avoid seeing the skip bar time. Not sure you can do anything about this, though, on other devices. The main issue is trying to skip intermissions. I miss on Roku being able to jump straight to the next period without seeing the time--that was so convenient. But I doubt we'll ever get that on ESPN+ since it's not a dedicated hockey service.

I fixed my IP address problem. I was on the phone for over 2 and a half hours collectively with ESPN and AT&T. Basically the problem is my modem has multiple IP addresses, the IPv6 and the IPv4. The IPv4 was good, but the IPv6 was pointing me to Seattle Washington. I had gone to Seattle in September of this year and I was able to see Kraken games when the season started but for some reason something happened that pointed that address to Seattle. They basically turned off that IP address and now I'm just on the IPv4 address, which is the right one. I'm so confused about how all this works, and I really wish it was more simplified. At least I can see all the out of market games now.

What with all the desync in video/sound this season? I first thought it was only Bally Sports but it seems all feeds have this problem. Video behind sound.

Has any broadcaster or anyone addressed this problem?

I've been wondering the same thing. Some games it's a minor annoyance. Others, it makes it really hard to watch.

I literally couldn't disagree more with your post. NHL.TV was f***ing dogshit. NBC had how many games, exactly?

I wish there were another route where you could throw money away so you don't have to use the mute button. Personally, I'd rather pay less to watch hockey.

Also, doesn't ESPN+ use the local broadcasts... just like NHL.TV did? lol.

How was NHL.TV dogshit. I could login and see plays highlighted, I could see hits; goalpost, goals, etc. NBC had plenty of National games too with way better announcers. Espns national announcer suck

I still notice it every game I watch (Canada - Rogers NHL Live). For me though, it starts out fine and gradually gets worse during each game (sound moves ahead of video). Using Apple TV 4K and I've been sort of assuming the Apple TV NHL app is what is causes the problem. For me, it seems like commercial breaks or intermission breaks is where it gets worse. Sometimes I notice it after the 1st period, and other times it doesn't become noticeable until the 2nd intermission. I have to leave the game and restart the feed in order to re-sync it. This is pretty annoying for a paid service. I contacted Rogers and created a ticket (they responded to tell me it was fixed) but 2 games later it's still happening. I haven't tried on any other device yet but I would like to for comparison.

Can anyone else confirm a similar issue?
