By all the accounts I've heard on radio here is that Ruutu has provided more that's needed from a 13th forward than Sheppard. Sheppard is one of those classic not good enough for the top 6, doesn't play like a bottom 6 and was simply being out performed by Ruutu and Skille as well

Ya both Ruutu and Skille looked like they were fighting for jobs while Sheppard was just playing like he was a veteran that was already on the team

The Panthers assigned four players to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds: forwards Connor Brickley, Dryden Hunt and Kyle Rau and defenseman MacKenzie Weegar .

Forward Logan Shaw , defenseman Jakub Kindl and goaltender Reto Berra have been placed on waivers and upon clearing waivers will report to Springfield (AHL).

Defenseman Adam Pardy has been released from his professional try out.

The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has released six players from its training camp roster.

The following six players have been loaned to the Rochester Americans (AHL): Forwards Justin Bailey, Jean Dupuy and Cole Schneider; defensemen Brady Austin and Erik Burgdoerfer; goaltender Linus Ullmark.

The Hurricanes assigned Jake Bean (Calgary - WHL) and Julien Gauthier (Val d'Or - QMJHL) to their respective junior teams, and Aleksi Saarela to Lukko of Liiga (Finnish elite league). Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic, defensemen Dennis Robertson and Jake Chelios and forwards Andrew Poturalski and Valentin Zykov have been assigned to Carolina's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. Forward Raffi Torres has been released from his tryout.

Brendan Woods, Brody Sutter, Keegan Lowe, Matt Tennyson and Michael Leighton will also be assigned to Charlotte today, pending waivers.
