Apparently Duncan Keith is on the trading block. 2 more years at 5.5 mill. Who would want to take him on?? 37 years old, can't have much left in the tank.

Oh of course. The Leafs will probably sign him!

I think Friedman or someone said he was going to a "Pacific Northwest" or "Western Canadian" team.

Sounds code for Seattle/Vancouver.

The Hockey Guy on youtube said it's not Vancouver - and he's a big Canucks fan so I will presume he knows what he's talking about.
Maybe they send him to Seattle with a verbal agreement as to who Seattle takes from them in the ED?

Fleury's numbers were better than Vasilevsky's in the regular season. To do that at his age is a fantastic accomplishment. I think he totally deserved the Vezina.

Definitely the right choice for the Vezina. Vasilevskiy was good but MAF was better in most major statistical categories including goals saved above expected and save percentage above expected.

I think he didn't and honestly I can care less about his numbers. Vasilevsky finished 7th in the Hart voting and Fleury...I honestly don't remember but I believe he didn't get a single vote. How can a 7th best player in the league and the only goalie to receive votes for that title not be the best goalie? That's nuts. Same story with Varlamov in 2014. Finished 4th for Hart behind only Crosby, Getz and Giroux and Rask took the Vezina. That's crazy to me.

Most valuable player ≠ best player. But even though I don’t share your reasoning, you could just as easily reverse that logic to question the Hart voting - how can a guy who isn’t even the best goaltender in the league (per Vezina) be in the top-5 for MVP?

This series feels over. Unless the spirits of Tim Thomas, J-S Giguere, and Cam Ward collectively take over Carey Price there doesn’t seem to be a realistic path for Montreal to take four out of the next five from Tampa.

Fun fact of the day: Giguere was traded from Calgary to Anaheim for a 2nd round pick and that pick was eventually traded to Washington which they used to select Matt Pettinger.

Sorry I've always felt that this is a total BS. Basically Hart is for the best player on a playoff team. Has been like that for years and still is.

Also, Fleury has been chosen only on the second all NHL team. The guy lost basically every other voting and got the nod for a lifetime achievement award. Ridiculous.

Getting a nice little inner chuckle seeing Nate Schmidt likely run out of Vegas with that juicy 4 more years @ 5.9 per price tag he’s carrying.

Like him, but so, so overrated.
Maybe, but where would you place Schmidt in the Capitals current D Corps:
  • Carlson
  • Orlov
  • Schultz
  • Dillon
  • Jensen
  • TVR
  • Kempny
I'd put him behind Orlov in this group as far as abilities. He's a 3/4 defenseman who has versatility in that he can play either side. His salary is the issue, being just under 6 but still I wouldn't mind seeing BMAC kick the tires on a Schmidt return with perhaps anyone of the British Columbia boys in the list going back to Vancouver and include Lucas Johansen another BC guy if necessary.

I think a 3/4 is a fair rating. I’d take him for $4 mil or less.

Smells like 4-1 series with TB tossing a game in Montreal so they can win it back on home ice. They did get hosed by winning in the bubble last year with no fans around to celebrate with.

He is a left handed Nick Jensen. He might be better than Jensen but he is a mobile defenseman that doesnt have much offensive skill. Behind Orlov is Dillon who does many things Schmidt cant do. Schmidt averaged over a 1 minute of pp toi last season and didnt have a single pp point.

Hey. I dont know. The team likes him. Its pretty obvious. I get that we think he sucks. The team doesnt. Clearly they see things and look at things different than we do. Or do you think they know he sucks and want him anyway?
