1) This is a messageboard about the NHL and I'm here with an opinion about this contrived NHL product you disagree with. Appropriate content.
2) You certainly don't understand my opinion because you would of stopped replying to me 3 messages ago. Thanks for the lil passive/aggressive jabs...'misinformed' 'talking out my ass' GTFO. This is your typical MO on here and why I typically don't engage in debates on here beyond posting memes/gifs.
4) You're interested in ratings. I am not. It's the only pro-hockey on TV at the moment, and this is targeted at people's national dispositions in a very controversial political climate.
5) I can't tell if you're obtuse, you're part of N4 marketing, you like to argue just to argue, or all the above.

ps I was at a bar last night that never plays hockey, and there it was on tv.

Obviously you’re taking yourself a bit too seriously. No need for the constant insults! Lighten up, enjoy hockey!

Well that was interesting - The Hockey Guy did a recap of Canada vs USA and said he thought LT should have been selected ahead of Binnington because you "pick the goalie with the best record going into the tournament". He said he thinks Bruce Cassidy played a role in not picking LT (cos Vegas coach etc). Have to say it makes sense. Could cost Canada dearly but such is life.

Binnington gave up 2 goals, and on one of them he got hung out to dry.

You can't really blame the goalie when the team puts up 1 goal.

In he WJC I thought the 4 best players in some order were Leonard, Hutson, Buium, and the wee McKenna lad, and that’s the new USA vs Canada template, a top heavy Canadian team with transcendent talent vs US depth and toughness at the top of the roster.
WJC and the game last night really highlighted how comparatively poor Canada's D is to the US'. Does anyone other than Makar make the US blueline??

This is also the new NHL model for success IMO. Just look at the Jets and Caps... even the Panthers. None of those Panthers players are super elite, Hart or Ross candidate guys. But they're best players are great all-around guys and they are deep and tough.

Playing in a tax free state never goes out of style, I’d be less wary of making a power forward like Tkachuk or center like Barkov, but it’s interesting to me Carolina is looking to exit that 0 superstar mode of success to be more like top heavy Toronto/Pittsburgh for <Stephen A Smith voice>Mikko Rantanen.

So far at least, Rantanen looks lost. There's already talk in the hockey media that the Canes could trade him again before the deadline if they can't get him signed. Meanwhile, Necas is thriving in Colorado, so...

Crosby's horrible turnover costing CAN and the commentators = crickets

Not a single word even mentioning Crosby in the replays, then intermission when they tout how they're going to break down in detail the goals... more crickets, not one word, not one mention of Crosby's name, just how it was a bad D change and not 87's bad giveaway
Pathetic.

Finally Ferraro pre puckdrop for the next period mentioned Crosby's giveaway after dozens of opportunities to make the slightest hint that Sidney Crosby is human

Eh Barkov and Tkachuk maybe aren't Hart trophy guys but they're both top 10ish forwards in the league. Edmonton wins last year too and we're having a whole conversation about how it's the opposite -- the star power of McDavid and Draisaitl carrying a team with atrocious depth all the way to the cup.

Lots of ways to build successful teams

This is a crazy headline to me. They are making it seem like LT is super talented but a huge dick. Someone they should have endured so they can win.

But...

Everytime I see LT on camera he comes across as a super chill super humble guy?

What gives?

For me it's not about blaming the goalie - I just find team Canada's goalie selections bizarre.

Binnington - 39 games played 15 w 19 losses. ,896 save percentage.

LT - 31 24 2 - .921 save percentage.

It's a no brainer.

It makes me happy to see the Canadian media cannibalizing Hockey Canada. Even with this much criticism, I don't think the negative press or even losing the tournament will change the good ole boy culture that permeates HC. They are resistant to change unless it's forced upon them.

Until this Four Nations business, I can't recall anyone having anything negative to say about Logan Thompson. Criticism about a player's character rings pretty hollow coming from an organization like Vegas who, despite their success, always seems to take a ruthless approach to personnel management.

I think it's more likely that they know they f***ed up and are scrambling to come up with a justification for their lack of objectiveness when selecting the roster.

I don't think BMGM trades for LT or gives him an extension if they thought he was going to be a locker room distraction. Unless we are provided evidence of LT's questionable character, I don't see a reason to take what those bozos at Hockey Canada have to say seriously.

Obviously his production has been awful, but there's underlying signs that Rantanen has been fine. His shots per game and shot attempts per game are both up, significantly, since the trade. If they stay patient (big if), the production will come.
