The Penguins gamble on Karlsson would have been worthwhile if they had competent depth and coaching. It really is astounding how their PP is so bad.

The last time the Pens tanked, they were awarded the #1(#3 actually), #2, #1 and #2 pick in consecutive drafts and landed 3 HoF players out of it, plus Jordan Staal. The NHL gifted them Sydney Crosby in that phoney made up lottery that blocked the Caps from having a shot. Their tank won them 3 Cups.

May this coming Pans tank land them nothing but more pain and misery for another 25 years. To this I raise a glass and toast. May they suck forever and ever.

Kinda fun and gratifying to see GMBM finally get some love. I have been crushed here for the last few years on supporting him. Now as his plan starts to develop and we see other teams wallow in suckiness, it is starting to show that he has been doing the right things.

to be fair, many of the gambles didn’t truly play out as hoped, but that is why they are gambles. Love that the path forward is a bit more visible now.
idk how many minds have changed. The GMBM haters are still around, and I'd wager they'll be posting as soon as anything negative happens.

I feel like a lot of the people I see whinging about the work GMBM has done were also the one's whinging that he didn't make a move like that EK trade.

Knew that trade would be awful before it even went through.

I never understood the GMBM hate either. There really isn't a good replacement and he had the guts to sign Orpik, Niskanen, and trade for Eller and Oshie. As much as Shattenkirk sucked, it was a bold move at the time. As far as holding on to some veterans for too long, well I don't blame him. That has Ted written all over it, imho.

Those are words I said back in 2003 and it back fired.

I mean will anyone be shocked when they land a top pick when Sid is about to retire? People here already taunting the hockey gods….surprised we haven’t learned…

But still, coming up with a goose egg in a 7 goal game ain’t so hot. Maybe the fancy stat guys could speak to his goal share or xG on a rate basis.
Yeah that was my immediate thought as well when I saw the box score.

I guess we'll see how he goes the rest of the season. Definitely watching with interest.

Why not! This may be the only way an NHL team returns to Quebec, as the previous two Atlanta franchises eventually made their way to north of the border.
Oh I don't care if they get a franchises, but don't name them "Thrashers" and keep digging up those terrible logos/unis.

Given my favorite thing to do on wheels, I like the name Thrashers, maybe they can include a skateboard on it?

If the mascot had anything to do with skateboarding instead of this:

I'd agree

What is going on with the Red WIngs all of a sudden. They lost 5 in a row and they're getting killed by the Sabres atm and its only the 1st period.

Other than Tampa, a lot of these pipsqueak teams not helping with the tank.

Check out Buffalo's blue line though.

Dahlin - 1st overall
Byram - 4th overall
Owen Power - 1st overall
Jokiharju - 1st round (29th)

That team should be way better than it is. And every season around this time they suddenly start winning games but it's always too late

At 65 points, they're still in it.

BTW me citing the Caps remaining schedule yesterday is kind of a wash. The Red Wings, Islanders and Sabres (I didn't even check the Devils they're so lame) all have tough remaining schedules. Its all going to come down who gets the lucky break here and there.

Yeah Sabres only 5 points back now with 67. We're only 3 back.

I said before the trade deadline there was no way in hell the Caps are making the playoffs. Might end up making a fool of me. Usually I do a good job of that all by myself!!

Wings and Flyers are shooting themselves in the foot after playing so well for most of this season.

Rempe gets 4 games for that bad hit on Siegs.
Rempe is a dangerous asshole. No place for guys like that in the game. He is deliberately hurting people.

Then he won't even fight MacDermid and waves at him while Seigs is lying injured on the ice.

This is hilarious. Great change Sid

Losing to Ottawa has to be the final straw for Sullivan.

The team must have completely tuned him out. He has a 3 year extension that doesn't even kick in until next season - what a mess. I guess if they fire him they have to pay him all of that money?

(And as a Caps fan it's pretty damn enjoyable!)

Stupid imho, but if they do bring back the SE Division. Metro experiment old now.
