Lol, no?

How would it piss of Columbus when your player gets called for a high stick... When he infact high sticked
The fact that the only reason it would've been a high stick was because Edvinsson shoved the stick into his own face to make it happen?

By the rulebook, we would have been screwed by that - as @GKJ pointed out, You're Responsible For Your Stick No Matter What. But instead, because Danforth scored so quickly, Detroit got screwed by the rulebook. There are clearly two rulebook weaknesses here, and one way or another a team was going to get screwed.

They got dogged tf out by Detroit all game, the only way they walked out with points was because of a missed call
Not all game. Third period, yes, absolutely. The Jackets actually outchanced the Red Wings up until that point, IIRC - Detroit had been getting quantity over quality. But no question Detroit utterly dominated the third period.

By the way, good job for Blue Jackets and their fans to get the stage like this. With all the mediocrity that those fans have endured, to say nothing of everything that's emanated from Gaudreau it's amazing that they filled Ohio Stadium and maintain and engaged fanbase.

No they defended their lead, and when they tied it up, Danforth made DAMN sure that puck was going into the net. It's the type of play you see in playoff hockey. When someone, through sheer will, makes a statement like that....it's legendary.

Bravo Justin...Bravo.

End of the day, Detroit shouldn't have let it come down to one play/potential high stick. Cant always outscore some of the problems on the back end. Still in a good spot for the final stretch.
I wouldnt be shocked in the slightest if these are the 2 teams that take the WC spots. In control of their own destinies and generally have been taking care of buisness

Agreed on which stick, disagree on how it got there.

Still frames obviously do not tell the whole story but Ed is not pulling Danforth's stick into his own face. The sheer length of time Danforth had it pressed against Ed's face, it's an obvious high sticking penalty.

Honestly, that isn't actually the part that matters w/r/t whether or not it's a high stick under the rules - the way the rulebook is, it's Danforth's stick in Edvinsson's face without regard to how it got there. Edvinsson just pushed the stick upward. I suppose Danforth could have gotten his stick away faster (he did hold it there for a bit) but it wouldn't have substantially changed the rule interpretation and/or just how much bullshit it is that the rule doesn't allow for that kind of thing.

But then we ran into the whole "it can't be reviewed" thing because a goal was scored too quickly, which is also bullshit. One way or another as a result of that sequence of events and the way the rulebook is written the game was going to turn on bullshit screwing someone. It just happened to screw Detroit.

He didn't just hold it there. He was trying to get his stick free and cranked it against Edvinsson's face. It was simply a missed call.

Though missed isn't even the right word because the ref is looking right at it. They chose not to call a penalty that led to the game winning goal.

With the broadcast coverage, to the Wings defensive lapses, to the non-call, as a Wings fan this was an incredibly frustrating game to watch.
