The Columbus Bluejackets no longer have a goaltending problem.
That’s premature, ain’t it ?The Columbus Bluejackets no longer have a goaltending problem.
On the one hand, yeah, I would be Very Not Happy if that went against us.
On the other hand... too often, it does go against us. Indeed, if we wanted to be nitpicky, there's plenty of missed calls we could point to that also prevented scoring chances. So I'm kind of thinking of it as having come out in the wash.
The way I view it, it was going to be a Stupid Rulebook Screw one way or the other. Technically a high stick even though Edvinsson shoved Danforth's stick into his own face. Technically not reviewable because the goal was scored. One way or another it was going to be a stupid technicality and one way or another someone was going to get screwed and a fanbase was going to be pissed off.Yeah those happen pretty much every game but a GWG right after you should've got a minor for high sticking is just too much, it's all the more hilarious it happened in a game they were getting absolutely destroyed in the xG battle and gave up almost 50 shots
It was not a good way to end that game, but I can laugh about it. If I were a Wings fan I'd be furious, but not only because that GWG - it's also a classic case of failing to capitalize on your momentum - if you have 25 more shots than the opposing team and have like 75% xGF, maybe the game shouldn't be down to one missed call...
...and I'm kind of just glad it went our way.
I AM stuck in traffic yet happy with the win and thrilled to have attended the game but you do youAm I allowed to complain about getting stuck in a traffic jam on 315 today? It was a Columbus-style traffic jam so it really only delayed me about 5 minutes, but we love to complain about the traffic in Columbus even though it is much better than most other cities.
I like the uniforms. I really like the Red Wing helmets.
I was supposed to be out of town all weekend but got home earlier than anticipated. Anyway, I am tired and happy I can go straight to bed when this is over. Maybe I’ll go to the next one.
Let’s keep that winning streak with future HF CBJ legend Joseph LaBate in the lineup going!
1-0 Devils at first intermission...game is on ESPN+. If UHC can come back and deny NJD points, Columbus will only be 2 pts out of 3rd with a game in hand. And while the CBJ has to take care of their own business, the next three for the Devils are @ LVGN, @ Stars, vs WPG. That's a tough stretch...New Jersey playing right now, but at this second, the Jackets are level on number of games played and are only two points back of top 3 in the Metro.
What’s that ? Having 2 of their biggest players getting absolutely bodied by 5 ft 9 DanforthI feel for the Wings, that’s a shitty way to lose that game.
Elvis has been just fine overall for his past 20 games or so. You wouldn't know that his attitude was considered a problem by looking at him now. That’s premature, ain’t it ?
Both our goalies have pretty mediocre stats
They did end up on the wrong end of a 50/50 Inevitable Stupid Rulebook Screw that the game turned on. I'm not begrudging them their frustration. The amount of whining from Detroit fans between Thursday and today is adorable. Holy hell.
More of a reflection of thr defense we were playing in front of our goalies . Early in the season we were playing wide open hockey .. Both goalies have put up really good numbers the past couple monthsThat’s premature, ain’t it ?

Same. I'm STILL cold!Still getting the chill out of my bones but man. Good time.
And the good guys got the W
The puck was bouncing all over the place all night. Elvis, you were solid tonight. Well done!

If you’re good and the league starts to like you, you get those calls. Not kidding.I just find it poetic that Detroit, a team who has gotten calls or worked around the rulebook for years is the team that comes out on the wrong end for a change. This young Columbus team has a hell of a time getting calls and finally has something go their way, I'm not going to feel bad about it
