You can tell people who only read the subject line and not the post itself. This isn’t from the NHL. And the NHL isn’t going to be involved in any initiative the KHL is involved with.

This is my thought as well. Even ignoring the current political environment, I doubt the NHL would want to work with the KHL in something like this. If it was just the NHL in the UAE it may be possible, though unlikely.

Looks like it is from NHL

We received an official letter from #NHL. The league would like to organise a game in UAE in 2027.
Now we will offer them an idea to host a game with NHL & #KHL clubs in Dubai.

I don’t think the NHL had KHL in mind when they offered up a game. Probably wanted 2 NHL teams.

I'm sure hockey players will be okay with skating in a arena built by forced labor where many died and were injured during the construction.

This isn't a good place for that. Your average Dubai resident isn't a native Emirati. It's meant to appeal to a bunch of wealthy expats and bored oil barons with more money than sense.

Well the NHL had a golden opportunity when the Olympics were in SK 6 years ago and they said no, so ultimately I don't think they actually care about growing the game.

They should do it imo, KHL knows there's money there, NHL still hasn't properly tried to go after the Chinese market they can at least go for this.

You can also really tell who's following the usual legacy western media brainwashing here.

Sounds like an awesome way to grow the game. Can't think of any reason why this wouldn't be a success.

The NHL was going into China until COVID happened. Now their own KHL team doesn't even play in Beijing anymore, even though their policy has long since been rescinded. Generally, the CCP government has been making less of a play in expanding their domestic team sports infrastructure, it's why their clubs barely make a splash in the Asian soccer cups these days. So I think it's a mutual disinterest.

Your second point is just stupid.

go ahead who cares. 15 years into the constant melting down over X sport/entertainment/game is playing a game/hosting an event in the UAE, only the rest of my life to go, and nothing will really ever happen
