Macona is in Collingswood, but they don't always have that sandwich on the menu since it's a special. Hen Vietnamese in Cherry Hill makes a legit banh mi though. Highly recommend it.
Jersey sucks. I don’t go there unless I have to. They sound like their worth it, but I doubt the sandwiches travel well. Thanks for the input though.
I found a local place that I pass all the damn time and never thought to get anything there.
Lunch is going to be f***ing awesome.

I thought you were from Jersey for some reason. Sorry if I offended you. Actually I'm not, you suck.

I hope your banh mi sucks just as much as you do.

He’s defective but in his defense Jersey does suck. It’s the Robert Hagg of states.

Getting out of New Jersey after living there for 30 years was like getting out of prison

I still live here so I'm obligated to defend it. The only issue I have with where I live is my property taxes. Otherwise, it's pretty great.
Property and state taxes are outrageous and pretty much have ruined living there. My home in FL is slightly larger than my home in NJ was but my property taxes are only 35% of what they were in Jersey and I pay zilch in state taxes.

I'd assume your larger house in Florida was cheaper than your NJ house too. It's getting ridiculous around here now.

I grew up at the beach, went to school in the City of Philly, live in the NJ suburbs now, and have a family place in the mountains. I'd choose the mountains no doubt if I could convince my wife.

Yup, though it’s appreciated big time and now is worth a lot more than my NJ home was. I lived in either Philly or Linwood (near Somers Point/Ocean City) for most of my life and I really don’t miss it, especially on days like today when it’s 80 and sunny here.

The only things I miss are cheesesteaks. You can’t a good one down here. But if you like BBQ and/or seafood, you’ll love it here.

Well you can’t get one anywhere besides Las Vegas now either.

Try paying NJ taxes and Philadelphia City Wage Tax on top of them.

Jersey has plenty of nice places and plenty of not so nice, like everywhere else. Just pick the place with the lifestyle you enjoy.

It just humors me to no end to hear people who live in a random PA suburb insist an entire state is a shithole as I wake up every morning to a beautiful view of the Atlantic. I'm sure your lawn is the envy of the neighborhood and I'm sure you're an asshole. No time for this shit at all, but I have plenty of memory space for people telling on themselves.

I get a beautiful view of the Atlantic too, and, for just a 2 hour drive, gorgeous sunsets on the gulf coast.

And it costs a hell of a lot less.

I'm glad you're happier there. Truly. That's not what I'm talking about to be clear.

There's this weird sense of superiority some people have in all directions from NJ, PA, and NY. They're really not very different. Some have more coast or more mountains, but the lifestyle is essentially the same. I understand there are huge tax implications, but that's just numbers. Completely understandable. I don't for the life of me understand why people just decide to be assholes about it.

Please note that I'm probably overly sensitive to this because so often the same people ask if they can stay with me in the summers.

There's also the northwest part of the state, with views of the mountains or the gap. Lots of nice places to live in Jersey. It's one of the perks of having a home that I can plop down wherever I want.

On a serious note, I actually live in a suburb. I have nothing against where I live other than the taxes and the fact that it's a suburb - I'd prefer more space between myself and my neighbors and some nicer scenery. But that's the tradeoff I had to make when I ended up doing what I do. I personally can't understand folks who live in cities, but that's because I don't like crowds and noise. But some people do, and that's fine. It's the beauty of having the ability to make our own choices on where we live.

My wife's work has been hounding her to move to Florida for years now and I keep having to put my foot down. Mostly because I'd melt like a soft serve ice cream cone down there.

Hey I get it, I felt the same when I lived there. But it’s like Stockholm Syndrome, you don’t realize how much better it can be elsewhere until you get out.
