No

I don't know if they've been picked

The bitch is back. The glare. I am blinded.

We start the day with @CanadianFlyer88 on the clock, which means we will start the day later, because Celsius Standard Time is f***ed, but that's fine. @Rebels57 is on deck, and that's fine since today is Saturday, but don't be surprised if and when he wanders in here covered in bruises after his re-education re: tagging. @BernieParent is on the lido deck, and that's always fine, but I do wonder if all of our kind regard and deep respect for him aren't one day going to make him snap and turn and hand out beatings just to show that he's not anybody's stuffed animal to snuggle. Like when the hockey starts out there, don't be surprised if and when he hands you your ass. BiggE is on the lido afterdeck. I am 100% sure he is, or will soon be, wasted.

Last night I started watching "All About Lily Chou Chou" (2001), but the subtitles I found, one after the other after the other, were f***ed. So I turned on "Drive My Car" (2021), but I couldn't concentrate, because I had planned to watch the other film, and I wanted to really savor both of them. So I stopped it, went and downloaded a different version of "Lily," and did a deeper dive until I found the right subtitles.

I have been waiting a long time to watch this, and I can't really say that I was necessarily mesmerized. It's from the very early days of the internet, and message boards - like "The Orange and Black" days of message boards - and the beginning is an epileptic's nightmare, as texts from a discussion forum about the titular (phrasing) band flash on the screen between shots of the protagonist standing in a field of rice listening to their music. It eventually settles down, thank f***, to tell the story of the kid's troubled teenage years and the grim reality of how circumstances can warp personalities and destroy lives. It's really very heavy on either side of the more gentle "Before" flashback that takes up the film's center. The child actors, called upon to "be natural," are really, really good. But like I said - it's heavy, man.

Hopefully the sun f***s off while I still have an iota of eyesight left. If you can see this, enjoy your day.
