I suck at remembering things. There are "greater" games than this in any sport, some still not picked, and even embedded in the lore of my favorite teams. But honestly, I don't
remember them unless I'm reminded of them.
It's hard to explain. Someone picked that Georgia/Bama title game from a while ago. I watched that on TV. Every second.
Of course that game is an all time, all-sport legend. But I don't remember its existence on a week to week basis. Same is true even for redacted games from Philadelphia sports.
I'm picking the most
memorable sports game ever. The
5 OT TBL/CBJ game. Nothing was normal about that game and that is why it is so memorable to me: playoff hockey in mid August, with no fans, eating Sam's Pizza at my beach house with my cousin, who I never watch playoff hockey with because I don't see them until the beach trips. The sun was in the wrong spot for hockey. I was in the wrong house for hockey. Sam's Pizza was on the menu and that's only a beach treat... Hell we come off the beach to catch the OTs and watched in our bathing suits. It was 80° out. None of this should convey anything associated with ice hockey. There were no fans. COVID was still in the pre vaccine era...and it was FIVE overtimes.
What an insane array of...everything. I'll never, ever forget that game and the strange details around it, and I suck at remembering things.
