I've always been a Matt Damon guy. So I'll take Matt Damon to be my actor

Alright we’re ready to make our selections...

First we’ll look at the Team Niche Sporting Event and since loopholes are welcomed back in this category we can’t not use a loophole even though it isn’t really a loophole. The Las Vegas Desert Ducks select the favorite event of the Philadelphia Flyers Season Ticket Holders... The Shootout.

Next we will look to the Team Double Timer category. This one is probably the most obvious pick that could be made but as I type this out I’m still not really sure of the wording of the new category. We would like to have Joe Sakic continue to be our General Manager but also would like to make him our Hockey Roster Fill In. As I said before category title needs work but the bones are there.

@BiggE do you like the shootout?

You see dear ones, they’re can be only one horror movie character for the buzzards of meth and Jacksonville, just one. So welcome children, to sweet depraved Jacksonville, from the most unholy, The Exorcist, THE DEMON PAZUZU!

I have @BernieParent's pick.

“The owners of the Tampa Bay FireSticks love a good horror movie. Our strong preference is the supernatural and we root for the brave characters who stand against the seemingly overwhelming power of evil. We are therefore pleased to select the archetypical parapsychologist of the classic novel / movie Dracula, Dr. Abraham Van Helsing.

petercushing_trans_NvBQzQNjv4BqpSE_vT-BY72ODMakERG2yYoRVbmyHnYhqhrvP_Y41SE.jpg

“Author Bram Stoker described Dr. Van Helsing as ‘a philosopher and a metaphysician, and one of the most advanced scientists of his day; and he has, I believe, an absolutely open mind. This, with an iron nerve, a temper of the ice-brook, an indomitable resolution, self-command, and toleration exalted from virtues to blessings, and the kindliest and truest heart that beats—these form his equipment for the noble work that he is doing for mankind—work both in theory and practice, for his views are as wide as his all-embracing sympathy.’ He claimed in an 1897 interview in The British Weekly that Van Helsing was ‘founded on a real character’ who was ‘a highly regarded scientist.’

“The film iterations of the character were played by such notable actors as Edward Van Sloan (original 1931 version) to Bela Lugosi’s Dracula, Peter Cushing (1958), Laurence Olivier (1979), Anthony Hopkins (1992), Christopher Plummer (2000), Rutger Hauer (2012), and, of course, Hugh Jackman as the eponymous and quasi-superhuman incarnation.

“Dr. Van Helsing will be an excellent addition to our Supernatural team, with noted badass Pope Francis riding shotgun – literally.

“Onto @Chuck Downie for the next selection.”

@BiggE if you see this, please make a post after it so my morning post, which will follow, doesn't get automerged.

Seriously, automerge is the literal Devil. If someone still needs a Team Horror Movie Character ... just saying.

We start the day with Chuckles on the clock, followed by me, but both of us already know that, and so do you. So let's say the day starts after I make my pick. In that case, we start the day with @mja on the clock, @Magua on deck, @Hurricane28 on the lido deck, and Striiker on the lido afterdeck.

Yesterday I started this Thai series called "Stranded," which in Thai is pronounced "Glob Dook Kub" as far as you know. It's about a group of teenagers stranded on an island after a tsunami comes through. Plus, there is some kind of magical, possibly sinister dagger. Or some shit. I only watched one episode. The thing about these things is that I have that compulsion I told you about where I have to finish shows I have started. This condition is compounded by Netflix. I read once that they track people's viewing habits, so if you start a series and don't finish it, they will see that as a waste of series money (especially after the recent huge subscriber losses). The very last thing I want Netflix to do is stop scheduling these foreign series - I love them, except for when I hate them, so I can't abandon them. But sometimes I need to take a break and watch something that doesn't suck before I go back and finish them. The interesting thing about this one is the number of Thai words I still recognize and remember. The total? Zero.

So I went and started watching another series, "Paris Police 1900." It's pretty similar to "The Alienist," if you watched that, except that this is quite a bit better. It's darker (which is really saying something) and just crafted considerably better. At the beginning of every episode you get the theme music to the company Canal Plus, kind of the French version of HBO, or ITV in England. I have watched several Canal Plus shows over the years, so it's really nice to hear that little snatch (phrasing) of music. One of my favorite things about French shows and films over the years is their depiction of shitty French driving - it's absolutely hilarious. With no cars in Paris at the time, I didn't expect to get any in this show, but then the main character wiped out on a bicycle. It ruled. The other great thing was seeing society ladies at a tea party suddenly decide to shoot heroin in the parlor. And there are bent coppers, which you know is right down my alley. I have about five eps to go, and then I get to my old favorite, "Engrenages" ("Spiral") seasons seven and eight, which I finally found.

That's right - I am the King of the Pirates!

Chuck had the same general idea when he went with the Garbage Pail Kids, but I am going back even further, to Wacky Packages.

Team Card Game Monster - Cap'n Crutch

#Lore ... but don't call me "Cap'n," and really don't call me "Dave."

Also, I'm assuming there's a reason we seem to be skipping Chuck. Pick incoming.

You could probably fool the algorithm by stopping the series but playing the last episode in the background while you do literally anything else that force yourself to watch bad media.

Almost everyone's going all scary monster with their Horror Movie Character picks. The NJFZ are going to go in a different direction.

Team Horror Movie Character: (Rambo) Gizmo

gizmo-gremlin.gif

Our urban myth is gremlins and we built a supergroup around the Scottish band Mogwai, so this just feels right. Our hero starts off as a fun-loving tuneful big-eyed ball of fur, but by the cult classic Gremlins 2 becomes a lethal vigilante after being pushed too far. As he learns from John [Ranch]bo, to survive a war, you gotta become war!

@Magua, I know you already picked The Thing, but you could have had any one of these brilliant creations instead:
