Team Holiday gave us a really hard time here at NJFZ HQ. We thought about taking any number of holidays, but found all of them to be wanting. We then did what we usually do in such situations: kicked it upstairs to Team Owner and Finnish Godhead Sami Kapanen.

Apparently in neighboring Sweden, things can get a little out of hand, or so I've heard. In Finland, people seem mainly to engage in some heavy drinking (that reminds me, @Rebels57 you're up!) and to light massive bonfires--the latter obviously being very on-brand for us.

This has been a pain the whole time. I've considered many movie quotes. There's just too many. Lots of films have great quotes, and picking from all these lines that mean something is frightening and overwhelming. So while I was watching There Will Be Blood, which has many meaningful things to say, I realized I can solve this by picking a quote that says nothing. Enter Charlie Chaplin!

Many assumed that Chaplin making silent films in the soundy era was stubbornness on his part. Not quite. Chaplin couldn't figure out how to give The Tramp a voice. His lack of voice is foundational to the character and its mannerisms. Chaplin thought that the Tramp saying something would betray the character. He figured it out in Modern Times. The Tramp speaks by singing a nonsense song. The lyrics are meaningless, so he's saying nothing; but still acts out what could be getting said in the song. Perfectly true to the character. Chaplin was brilliant. Anyway, and I quote:

Magguio Ordonez and I have different categories left, so this should be fine. If he has a loophole to count Norah Jones as a Children’s Toy, I admit defeat.

I left this for last because I was trying so hard to come up with a better pick that won’t make every listicle in the world. Unfortunately, this listicles are correct in this case. It’s perfect. Plus I get to right the wrong of not managing to find room for her in the SuperGroup stages.

I've made another perfectly functional build that the Internet insists can't be made workable. Sometimes I think the Internet is just f***ing lazy. There's plenty of flexibility in the game if you don't mind not operating at peak 200% DPS efficiency.

I forgot this thing existed until looking up toys from the halcyon days of my youth. 20Q was an AI that tried to guess what you were thinking in (obviously) 20 questions, and by golly, this little bastard usually did it. Forget feeding digital pets -- teaching younglings to fear the singularity is the best thing a parent can do!

The internet is dumb and bad. So is Diablo 4.

I want to be able to cobble together ridiculous builds that somehow work. The game is not designed for that. If you just want to play various archetypes, it has flexibility. If you want to make a particular skill work in completely different ways on completely different classes in order to find the one you like the best, you cannot do that.

The example I like to give is Essence Drain + Contagion builds in PoE. I've played it on 8 out of the 19 Ascendancy Classes over the years. Most feel meaningfully different than the others. If you want to throw Traps, you don't necessarily play the Trap Class. You can do that, but you can play it in other ways too. Some will have much better clear. Some will be tankier. Some will be complete glass cannons that fall over to any hit from any mob, but kill endgame bosses in less than 2 seconds.

Or take Tornado Shot. I can play it on various classes. I can convert it into a Poison DoT build. I can keep it purely Physical. I can do a full Cold conversion and freeze everything in sight with enough damage. That's what build variety means to me. I understand that's not a universal truth, but I can't change what I personally enjoy. I like puzzles that challenge me.
