So what are we considering a children’s book?

Like a book a parent would read their child? Or do we include things for kids that are like 10 years old?

Also specifically one book? Like if it’s a series you just take one of them?

It's anything up through junior high. Like I read "Lord of the Rings" in fifth grade, but that's obviously not a children's book. So anything reasonable is fine. And it is just a single title, not a series. If you want to check before you pick you can always PM me.

The Las Vegas Desert Ducks are ready to bring much shame on you all. You all have left the most famous Golf Course in all the land available to us.

We’re speaking of course about Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Some people would say that the most important moments in human history occurred here and I’m not sure that I can argue with them.

Also, Mahomes said that he would see it when he believes it that Justin Herbert got that dog in him.

P.S: Utah is beautiful this time of year…

Ok thanks. :)

Are you torn between Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker?
What’s that? A graphic design book for dogs?

I have to make sure to nab this now. It's a purely perfect #Lore pick, but it's also one of my top ~5 or so books of all time. It's not "only" a children's book - it's not even primarily a children's book, really - but it is close enough. Adjust your own definition of "children's book" for this draft's purposes accordingly. As I said, it is pretty loose so we can all get what we want, within reason.

Team Children's Book - Watership Down

@Hollywood Cannon
Your rabbit obsession is both adorable, and disturbing.

JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!

We start the day with @GKJ on the clock, @CanadianFlyer88 on deck, @Asnito on the lido deck, and Bigglesworth on the lido afterdeck.

They are really, really taking the piss making us watch that shit two days in a row. But I'm inspired by Torts, who said in his interview with Piss and Friends on TNT that we shouldn't use numbers, but rather our eyes and our stomachs to evaluate the hockey. I'm going to do that, but I am going to go one step further - I am going to use my ass and my armpits also, and in that way I hope to get a full understanding of what is going on out there. Member how otters store things in their armpits? I member.

I watched a good one last night called "Emergency Declaration" that just came out this year in Korea. It's about a terrorist who releases a virus on a plane bound for America from Incheon. It is more of a popcorn flick than I usually watch, and it ticks all those boxes. In that way, it's nothing out of the ordinary, but it's well-made and exciting. My man Song Kang-ho is brilliant as always. Lee Byung-hun is also in it, and while he is a huge star, he is a tiny, tiny man. You forget it sometimes thanks to his presence and the way they shoot him, but sometimes he'll be next to someone and you think "Holy shit, he's a (little person)." So take that into account if you don't want to be startled when you watch it.

Have a little time, so we'll sneak a pick in, after all.

I'm sure most of the element choices will be readily found on Earth and will have earthly applications, but we're leaving Earth, innit. Therefore, we'll take our chances with an element discovered in a cold fusion experiment that doesn't naturally occur on Earth, has an extremely short half life, and currently has no practical uses on Earth... but will almost certainly be a valuable resource in the Quackverse.

The Seattle Sockeyes are thrilled to select, HS, atomic #108, Hassium.

@Asnito, what would you do if your half life was 10 seconds? :naughty:

@BigToe , can you play Asteroids with just one digit?

A sorcerer, you say? The Ghibli would be in dereliction of our thematic duty if we didn't use our in-house wizardlytics for this one.

A vain, childish, errant Casanova with a good heart -- well, technically he gave his heart to a falling star -- Howl is the homeowner of a moving castle (our Team Transport Vehicle) and the protagonist of (you guessed it!) Howl's Moving Castle. Unlike many sorcerers, he has no interest in worldly power and serves no one. When threatened to serve in the destructive war efforts in his land, he attacks both armies instead in the form of a black feathered beast. This is good. We like this.

@ajgoal -- make your pick and then help us Swiffer the moving castle

We are almost through this orgy of gluttony and can get back to gorging ourselves on picks.

Now that the Ghiblets have gone, we find ourselves with @ajgoal on the clock, @BernieParent on deck, @JojoTheWhale on the lido deck, and Young Sandwich on the lido afterdeck just perving his brains out.

Speaking of which, I was only able to get through 25 minutes of my "Hole in Love" episode before falling asleep last night. I watched "Tomb of the River" (2021) while the orgy of fisticuffs was going on in that dump on Staten Island or Long Island or wherever the f*** it was. It's a typical Korean gangster thriller, which means it's worth watching, especially if you enjoy orgies of blood. But by the time the stupid game was over and I had finished shitposting in here and on Shitter and launched "Hole in Love," I was starting to feel the effects of all the overeating the past three days. I could feel myself passing out, so I paused my episode and within five minutes was fast asleep in my chair. I managed to claw myself upright after two hours and go to bed, but at that point I was freezing. So all in all, I had no energy to dream of my beloved or urine or anything else.

The lesson to be learned is that it is a far better thing to be abroad and alone during American holidays than it is to celebrate them with your loved ones. That knowledge is what I am thankful for on this most thankful of occasions.

It is time to select our children's book. It's a wonderful story about family and how the making of a thing is oftentimes much more meaningful than the thing itself.

If you don't believe us, ask a prolific reader of children's books:

Team Children's Book: The Patchwork Quilt, by Valerie Flournoy and Jerry Pinkney

@BernieParent

"For our Team Ancient Civilization, the owners of the Tampa Bay FireSticks are pleased to select the Israelites. What more can be said about the children of Yahweh, the nation set apart by God Himself, although frequently described by Him as a stiff-necked people? While small and insignificant in greater world affairs, and frequently defeated by greater powers throughout the millenia, the Israelites have endured to the present day. The name "Israel," which means "wrestles with God," was bestowed by God on Jacob, one of the earliest patriarchs, and the accounts of the Tanakh overflow with the people's turning away from God. But by His blessing, He brought them back to Him every time.
