NHL Hockey Hall of Very Good

If a player doesn't have any major individual trotrophies, cups or outstanding stats (e.g 500g and 1000 assists) and he still makes the hall of fame, it's a joke.

Unsure if mentioned. I believe Claude Lemieux deserves a HHOVG nomination. Yeah he wasn't spectacular in the regular season. But his postseason accolades were excellent.
I’m a red wings fan and I honestly wouldn’t mind Claude Lemieux in the hall of fame. Guy was one of the best playoff performers of all time I mean theirs guys in there that have only 200 to 499 career points so he actually wouldn’t be a bad induction. I hope theoren fleury makes it in soon as well as Pat verbeek, cuz verbeek put up plus 2800 penalty minutes 522 goals, 540 assists 1062 career points yeah he was the little ball of hate but he was fun to watch.

Kariya didn’t have 500 goals but he had a gold medal at the OG’s Salt Lake City in 02, & silver in 92, at the world championships he won gold in 94, silver in 96, he won gold in the world juniors in 93, & a silver in the Phoenix cup in 91, also in the NHL he won a couple lady byng trophy’s, he won the Hobey baker for best college athlete as a freshman, as well as the NCAA championship with Maine. Lindros was a two time all star at center first team in 95, & second team in 96. Plus he was a darn good power forward, you gotta remember the hall is soft on guys who were injured, Lindros may not have put 1000 plus points up but his 4 to 6 year peak was ridiculous, plus he won the hart & Lindsay award in 1995. He was all rookie in 93, won gold for Canada at the U18 tournament, & the world juniors in 91 & 92, he won silver at the 92 Olympics, and won gold in 02, should’ve won silver in 98 thanks Crawford for sending bourque out instead of gretzky what a moron, Lindros also won gold at the 90, & 91 world championships, he won the Canada cup in 91, won a World Cup silver in 96. So you could say yeah he didn’t have the points but he had the international accolades, Peter forsberg won gold at the 94 & 06 Olympic Games, He won gold at the World championships in 92 & 98, & silver in 93, 02, & 03, & silver in the 92 & 93 world juniors, also won the Calder as NHL rookie of the year in 95, The Art Ross & hart trophies in 03. And his peak was great, pavel bure won silver at the 98 Olympics & bronze in 02, he won gold in the Esso cup in 88, gold at the goodwill games in 1990, gold at the euro junior championships in 89, bronze the year before, won gold in the 89 world junior championships, silver in 90 & 91, & won gold in 1990 at the world championships, & a bronze the year after, he was a end of the year first team all star in 94, second team in 2000, & 2001, all star game MVP, in 2000, & Rocket Richard trophy winner for top goal scorer in 2000, & 01,

Think Marchand might end up there.

If its really about "fame" then he should get in, he will be one of the more memorable players from this era based on his high played combined with his shenanigans and sometimes downright dirty play.

Just looking at accolades though, he has a cup, thats good. World Cup gold, World Championship gold. No individual awards and at this point he most likely wont get any, and only 860 points as a 34 year old. If he plays 4-5 more season he is likely to reach aroun 1100 maybe? I dont know if thats enough for him to get in.

I think him playing his whole career (or almost all of it) in Boston means he just squeaks in. Shouldn’t matter, but if he’s on multiple teams he doesn’t matter as much. As is he’s a core piece of a big franchise and multiple cup wins.

He's already almost a lock amongst modern players

Plus he was a darn good power forward, you gotta remember the hall is soft on guys who were injured, Lindros may not have put 1000 plus points up but his 4 to 6 year peak was ridiculous, plus he won a hart & Lindsay award in 1995. He was all rookie in 93, won gold for Canada at thd U18 tournament & the world juniors in 91 & 92, he won silver at the 92 Olympics and won gold in 02, should’ve won silver in 98 thanks Crawford for sending bourque out instead of gretzky what a moron, Lindros also won gold at the 90 & 91 world championships, he won the Canada cup in 91, won a World Cup silver in 96. So you could say yeah he didn’t have the points but he had the international accolades, Peter forsberg won gold at the 94 & 06 Olympic Games, He won gold at the World championships in 92 & 98, & silver in 93, 02, & 03, & silver in the 92 & 93 world juniors, also won the Calder as NHL rookie of the year in 95, Art Ross & hart trophies in 03. And his peak was great, pavel bure won silver at the 98 Olympics & bronze in 02, he won gold in the Esso cup in 88, gold at the goodwill games in 1990, gold at the euro junior championships in 89 bronze the year before, won gold in the 89 world junior championships, silver in 90 & 91, & won gold in 1990 at the world championships, & a bronze the year after, he was a end of the year first team all star in 94, second team in 2000, & 2001, all star game MVP in 2000, & Rocket Richard trophy winner in 2000, & 01,
Paragraph, bro.

Tkachuk had 530 goals over 1000 pts. How is he not a HOFer?
Lots of reasons:
  • Tkachuk never placed in the top ten in scoring, even once in his career
  • Poor playoff performer (56 points in 89 playoff games for a player with his talent is terrible)
  • He led his team in scoring in the playoffs just 2 times in 13 years (one of which was a first-round sweep, when that team won the division title)
  • No team success - his team made it out of the first round twice in 13 attempts
  • He only had two years where he received any votes at all for the Hart trophy, and never placed higher than 10th
  • Even if I cherry-pick his prime years (1996 to 2002), he's only 13th in scoring, behind non-HOF players like Theo Fleury and Ziggy Palffy
  • He wasn't bad defensively, but wasn't anything special (so he wasn't better than his numbers made him look)
  • At the time, LW was the weakest forward position. You'd think he would have been able to rack up more than two 2nd-team all-star appearances. Among his peers, Kariya was a five-time all-star (three of those on the first team). LeClair was also a five-time all-star (two of those on the first team) - and he's not even in the Hall.
  • 500 goals and 1,000 points isn't enough. Ask Pierre Turgeon, Jeremy Roenick and Pat Verbeek (the first two were much better hockey players than Tkachuk).
Tkachuk doesn't belong in the Hall. He was a very good goal-scorer and a big hitter, but that's not enough. From his own era, Theo Fleury, Patrik Elias and John LeClair are all clearly more deserving, and none of them are in the Hall.

David Ayres, the oldest NHL goalie to win in his debut. Also undefeated

Fleury is not in the HoF because of his off-ice issues during his time in the NHL and his current politics. Just like Mogilny isn't in the HoF because the NHL are afraid of being seen as a joke if he doesn't show up for the ceremony and Pierre Turgeon isn't in because of the Punch-up in Piestany.

All three are deserving to be in the HoF, especially Fleury.

Politics.

You really think the HOF committee is holding Pierre Turgeon to account for something that happened when he was a junior?

If a player doesn't have any major individual trotrophies, cups or outstanding stats (e.g 500g and 1000 assists) and he still makes the hall of fame, it's a joke.
Describes quite a few players in the HHOF so this absolutism simply doesn't work.

It's an old boys club and the incident certainly doesn't help but the process isn't open so we will never really know.

Turgeon is a bubble guy and it doesn't really matter if he is in the HHOF or not.

He probably would be in the HHOF if not for some untimely injuries but that's true about many players.

Once Trudeau resigns as prime minister or when his term comes to an end or if he’s dismissed, than fleury will get in, he should be in, Trudeau’s dad Pierre was one of the most respected prime ministers in Canadian history despite the scandals, Justin the son no absolutely not. His dad was for the people and the country, my cousin is Canadian, he says he’s not for the people I’ll leave it at that, he said to me a lot of people in Canada don’t like the guy, but either way you either get a good prime minister or a bad one that’s life, people don’t know the reason fleury turned to drugs and alcoholism, he was sexually & physically abused in juniors and it scarred him for life he’s been sober for like 18 years, & from what I’ve heard he does a-lot for players who are sexually, physically or verbally abused.

Mogilny would show up for his induction he’s not that type of guy, he’s not a tool in the shed.

I agree that leclair should be in, same with fleury, but tkachuk was a different kind of player, he won gold at the World Cup in 96, & silver at the 02 Olympics. So you gotta remember the international stuff as well.

I agree we need to consider international play, but 2002 does absolutely nothing for Tkachuk. He scored 2 points in the entire tournament (one of which was a goal in a 6-0 blowout win). He had no points in the entire medal round.

In 1996 he was 5th on his team in scoring - a solid contributor. But one tournament (where he was good, but not great) doesn't change the fact that Tkachuk was generally a horrendous playoff performer.

(Note that John LeClair, another LW, was clearly better than Tkachuk in both of those tournaments, and he's not in the Hall either).
