These guys belong in the Hall of Randomly Selected Players.

Vincent Lecavalier
Chara
Patrick Sharp
Mark Giordano
Phill Kessel
Patrick Elias
Jagr (will be HOF though)
Kesler
Krejci

For current players its Vladimir Tarasenko at forward and Ryan Suter on the back end and BOB in net I guess but it might turn out to be Demko, Gibson or Markstrom maybe?

Moginly has been eligible for 13 years and there was nothing pressing saying that he would be inducted this year. The war wasn't a factor.
Well I hope that’s not the case. Cuz he needs to be inducted he was the first Russian to come when the iron curtain started to fall he was the first player to play in the NHL born & trained in Russia, their were 4 in the 89/90 season mogilny, makarov, Krutov & larionov. The year after 90/91 was when fedorov, kasatonov & fetisov entered the league. 4 of them larionov, fedorov, makarov, & fetisov are in the hall of fame. Krutov & mogilny deserve to be as well mogilny has a cup ring in 2000 he has some hardware a lady byng trophy in 03, & was a two time all star at left wing, Krutov belongs in not just for the 2 seasons he played in the NHL but what he did in the Soviet leagues, luckily next year theirs only one first ballot guy in lundqvist I don’t see zetterberg joining him, I think he doesn’t get the call to the hall of fame until 2025 when datsyuk is eligible, that class will be datsyuk, zetterberg, Getzlaf & someone else.

Dennis Hextall was a bit late establishing himself as an NHL player. He was 27 – in 1970-71 – when he played his first full season in the NHL, with the Oakland Seals. In 78 regular season games, Hextall scored 21 goals, and added 31 assists, giving him 52 points, which led the Seals. He also led them with 217 penalty minutes (including 22 major penalties, a league record at that point).

Somehow, all that earned him a trade during the off-season to the Minnesota North Stars, for Walt McKechnie and Joey Johnston. He missed 45 games in 1971-72, but was back to his normal self in 1972-73. Dennis scored 30 goals, and led the Stars in assists (52), points (82) and penalty minutes (140). In 1973-74, he again led the team in assists (62) and points (82). His 138 penalty minutes were second to Dennis O'Brien's 166. In 1974-75, he led the Stars in assists (57) and points (74) for the third straight season. He was Number One in in penalty minutes (147) for the second time.

During the 1975-76 season, Dennis was traded to Detroit. During his first full season as a Wing – 1976-77 – he was tied for second in points (46), and second in penalty minutes (158) to Dennis Polonich (274). The next season – 1977-78 – he was the Captain of the pugnacious Wings team (with five 100-penalty minute players) which jumped 37 points (41 to 78) in earning a playoff spot, and eliminated the Atlanta Flames in the first round. The Cup-bound Canadiens eliminated Detroit in the second round.

Hextall was traded to the Washington Capitals during the 1978-79 season, and his NHL career ended there after two partial seasons.

It's somewhat surprising that a player with his style missed as few games as he did. That meant that his coach knew he could count on Dennis not only to be in the lineup game in and game out, but also to make a difference, with offensive production and pugnacious play. I certainly believe that this Hextall can/should be considered very good. Imagine the glee there'd be in Toronto, or any NHL city, with a player like that.

Right now I think suter is the best veteran to not win a norris or lady byng.

I don't see Mogilny getting in. Hall of Fame talent for sure, but never really had a hall of fame career. Sub-500 goals, just over 1,000 points, sub par playoff stats, etc. He finished 18 in Hart voting one year and 34th in Selke voting another year.....that's it in terms of award voting his entire career (other than Lady Byng and no one is getting HOF consideration of Lady Byng trophies). I wouldn't lean too heavily on his cup win either as he was clearly just a passenger that year.

The question I have on Mogilny is whether or not they are weighing his defecting into it. That wasn't a small thing that goes beyond the scope of what happens on the ice.

I don't know if it should be given any consideration or not, but I do believe that it makes his case more interesting than a lot of players of similar on ice caliber.

Unsure if mentioned. I believe Claude Lemieux deserves a HHOVG nomination. Yeah he wasn't spectacular in the regular season. But his postseason accolades were excellent.
Just stop right there please, Claude was a good complimentary post season guy some seasons but it would be extremely difficult to even give him a top 100 of all time post season best overall....among forwards never mind among all players in the history of the sport.

There are many more players who are ahead of him in the HHOVG to be sure.

I didn't say there weren't HHOVG players ahead of him. But he is a guy that can't be 100% dismissed.

Fair enough but I guess it comes down to how many players are in the HHOVG is it an equal amount as say the HHOF or is it a pyrmaid with tiers and the HHOF is at the top and the tiers become much larger as one goes down the Pyramid?

But just to keep it simple and let's say there are right now around 150 HHOF players since expansion (or whatever the actual number is) if the HHOVG is the same number I doubt Claude would be in serious contention but if it's double (in this example 300 players) maybe?

But on the surface even then he might be a bubble guy.

He is a bubble guy. I think his antics hurt him. I do believe more support would be had if it weren't for the Draper incident. Or, sometimes turtling. I think in the 89 Finals, his own coach didn't want the trainer to attend to him.

I almost want to jump into the discussion as I’ve never been involved in a debate about whether someone deserves consideration to the hall of very good…but I just don’t think I can go that far.
