If Shanahan suspends Brown for an important game for the Red Wings, doesn't that raise a serious conflict of interest issue?

I'm glad Brown plays on an edge like that, a shame he finally got tagged for it. I wish more of out players played like that, not blatantly dirty, but on the cusp...

From an article in puck daddy:

Michael Russo of the Star Tribune didn’t mince words:

Brown, who amazingly has never been suspended, does this time and time again and somehow gets away with it. I was told today by a league source that he came “very close” to getting suspended for what I thought was a very dirty elbow on Dallas’ Antoine Roussel two nights ago.

If that hit on Roussel is fresh in Shanny mind, coupled with the injury (probable concussion from premiliarty reports) that doesn't bode well for Brown.

I can't believe that there's a 27 page thread alrady on the main boards about this hit.

Oh shut the hell up Russo.

This is why I rarely post outside of the Kings forum now. It used to be ok when we were the lowly Kings, people took pity on us. Now that we are the champs, we get spit on for saying hello on the main board. It's the only bad thing about HF, to many homers, haters and punk kids with an agenda.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I find it amusing too that my posts, which weren't trolling at all, simply defending Brown, were taken down yet the Wild, Duck, and Canuck fans calling him a POS weren't.

Cry me a river hfboards.

I still believe Brown was expecting his chest and not head.

It really hard to say and think about but would Brown get all this hate if he wasn't an American captain? He hits hard and plays on the edge. But to date has never been suspended.

I don't think that matters at all. If he were Canadian everyone would hate on him the same, with the exception of when the olympics role around.

His nationality has nothing to do with the ill will. Players that are Canadian, Russian , Swedish , Finns...would get the same if given the circumstances. Playing with an edge does that, regardless of your origins.

If Brown were a Canadian and more of a whiney ******, his name would be Shane Doan and he'd be worshipped.

Kerry Fraser sees no intent or penalty on the play. We'll see if Shanny succumbs to pressure outside of the rulebook on this one.

I don't take what fraser says that seriously...however Sutter doesn't seam to think it is worth of anythign and he calls them pretty straight down the middle.
Watching last night till about an hour ago I was thinking 2 games for sure. Now I am thinking a Fine if anything.

Can we stop posting **** that Russo says that guy is an idiot.

I'm not saying that Fraser is the final word, but he was a referee. It wasn't a penalty on the ice and after his review, he agreed. Either way, I take his opinion with more weight than some yahoos on a message board or the beat writer of the opposing team.

The angle I saw was pretty bad, imho he knew what he was doing.
He knew what he was doing in that he was trying to brace for a check, but he couldn't have reasonably expected Pominville to lead with his face. Brown's elbow was equal to the top of the dasher boards (3.5 feet high). That's not exorbitantly high. He obviously knew there was a player coming at him, but you can't expect him to know in a split second the player is coming in face-first. Most players check leading with their shoulder and I would imagine Brown was expecting a shoulder, not a face.
