Good, then you will get your guy after we draft QB.

We were actually surpised by it given our previous draft tendencies and such. We figured Byfield would be our preferred option.

But regardless it doesn't matter anymore, I'm guessing you guys are as happy as we are that we can just find out the results soon enough.

Good luck tomorrow fellas!

Thank you for the insight and feedback! I hope you enjoy your picks (just not as much as we enjoy ours ;) ) cheers!

Hoven said on the radio today it looks like the Kings are set on picking at 35.

I've put up a few articles of who could be in the Kings' wheelhouse on Wednesday. Especially with how erratic this draft could go, we may have some fallers.

I unfortunately had a lot of stuff interfere with my ability to contribute more articles - my apologies for that. But hopefully one or two outside of Byfield get picked. But we're preparing to have some content ready to go.

Hoven's calling his shot that it's Byfield at 2 and D at 35, which is why a few articles recently have been defensemen.

I believe Hoven at #2. I think it's a stretch to think anything past that because of the volatile nature of the draft. It's kind of easy to grab the low hanging fruit and say the Kings will pick at #35 and I wouldn't be surprised to hear the FO say that so it doesn't look like they are willing to overpay to move up. Nothing to gain by showing your hand there. If a guy is there earlier and they can package something that is fair, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see them pull the trigger especially if it's a Dman who has some Offensive flair and a high ceiling.

#2 for #3 and #28 is what Kings supposedly want.
Someone suggested it in an article or forum post as a hypothetical option, I forget where I read it. It wasn’t based on a rumour... it then gets taken out of context and here we are.

I understand the skepticism. And yes, things can change. There's a lot of fluidity in the draft. It's not even set in stone they'll take Stutzle.

However, teams run through draft scenarios. They prepare. Drafts can change a franchise, so they put in a lot of time looking at realistic trade scenarios. They already know which teams are looking to move up and move down, what they have to offer/want, etc.

With all the scenarios they've gone through, it looks like they're expecting it's too much/not worth moving up.

Of course, it's very possible the Kings move a pick. I just think you're underestimating how much they prepare for this.

Deleted after misreading what I was replying to :sarcasm:

We should call this a rumor and post on Ottawa's board that they're mulling a trade of #3 and #5 for 2nd overall. ;)
I suggested it months ago, it’s just taken them this long to find it and then assume I’m an insider...

It’s not a rumor, it’s a headache!

I'm glad we're going with Byfield. Think he's going to be a stud long term and is the perfect guy to learn from Kopitar. Hoven is as plugged into the Kings as any other writer in the industry. I trust what he says.

Read about Schneider and some say a potential bottom pair guy and I get Teubert vibes. Watched his under 18 Hlinka highlights and he’s a lot better offensively than I expected and a beast defensively.

Schneider's my favorite defenseman out of the draft (at least among those I've watched).

He won't be the first defenseman taken, nor is he the most skilled, but his body of work despite playing a huge chunk of minutes will make him a steal for whoever grabs him outside the top 10.

I mean three kids in a trenchcoat or not, those are all sensible musings that we've discussed here on some level. No hot-takery and it's all stuff I can get on board with so.

Yeah it's funny when you look at the lineup construction--byfield "fits" with the kind of beef the sens have put together. Thats a gigantic prospect lineup. Whereas TS 'fits' the Kings better with all their 6 footers and speed. But wouldn't you think they'd be better mixing it up, Byfield to LA Stutzle to Ottawa? It's arguable. I could see TS feeding the crap out of Tkachuk or Kaliyev. I could see Byfield dominating the middle and eating passes from Turcotte or Batherson. Either way!

I think he gets taken between 10-12 frankly. I'd say 'right after Sanderson' but even though I'm not that high on him someone's gonna jump him in 5-10.

I can't unsee that short stick now, and I wonder if that's something he's asked to experiment with adjusting. That would explain why he's so hunched over. He could have even MORE reach which will be important vs. pros as well as keeping him a bit more upright to use his size. Obviously he can tool juniors with it.

How many people have actually seen extensive game action on either player. I don't like looking at just highlights. I base on watching them play multiple games. If its highlights I take Stutzle. If its watching full games I take Stutzle. If its creating scoring chances I take Stutzle. If it is dynamic play I take Stutzle. Stutzle will help the PP by just skating into the zone something Kings have lacked for years. We need a winger. Yes he is a Palffy with more bulk. So.........
"With the 2nd pick of the 2020 NHL draft, the LA Kings take Tim Stutzle from the DEL league" Marco Strum fist pumping... Ottawa fans "OK we'll take Byfield"

I think ive read that hes been asked to lengthen his stick but so far he's refused to do so.

I mean it seems to be working for him

If you claim to have watched Stuetzle, then you wouldn't be comparing him to Ziggy. Ziggy had a lethal shot and was money on breakaways. Show me how many breakaway goals Stuetzle has scored on, or come off the wing and ripped a shot over a goalie's shoulder.

You also clearly haven't watched Byfield, because everything you claim Stuetzle can do, he can do as well.

If Schneider is still there at 24, I'd love for the Kings to make a pitch for him with Washington's pick. I just don't see the Kings moving assets to potentially move up any higher. Washington does not have any 2nd round picks and doesn't pick again until later in the 3rd round. Colorado at 25 and St Louis at 26 also lack 2nd round picks. So if the Kings find a dance partner, it's likely in that range.
