If the hockey news scouts were better they’d be NHL scouts
Traded it to Chicago for Anthony Beauvillier the filthy buggers traded it to Toronto under our nosesDid we trade our 5th to Toronto a while ago? Like maybe last year?
Well in that case we should have kept the 5th because it was about as productive as Beaverboy.Traded it to Chicago for Anthony Beauvillier the filthy buggers traded it to Toronto under our noses
A thousand times this! The hockey media is useful for getting intelligence on trades and such, but if they were nearly as good as they believe they are on player evaluations, they would be employed by an NHL club.If the hockey news scouts were better they’d be NHL scouts
I don’t hate the draft class. I am very happy with stiga especially. My only thought is we had 6 picks in top 100 and the only guys we got that were rated in the top 100 were surin, stiga and marques….
Let’s hope Barry knows better than the hockey news and central scouting but I must say I’m a bit disappointed but I don’t hate it either. Time will tell.
You do know that Askarov was injured?if Askarov lit up the playoffs instead of getting benched to a 30 year old, we would have a better chance of moving up in the draft.
But if he was lighting up the playoffs, we wouldn’t be offering up to anybody
If both of those things happen, I will go back to the Bruins. They were my team in the late 60s and early 70s.Maybe this part of Barry's secret plan to tank us and Haslam sells the team to Houston.
Who needs a guy that scores all of those goals, especially the shorthanded ones.I'm just not that high on L'Heureux myself so I'm not really high on this as a strategy. I just figured there were higher upside swings available.
And Nabokovs kid by Colorado, and it seems like another that I can't rememberAnd hockey gives me the I am f***ing old treatment Saku Koivu’s son was drafted by Montreal. Miroslav Satan’s son was drafted by Washington.

I understand it beats the alternatives, but yeah. I mean, you and I have been on this site for, what, 17 years now? And known eachother for another seven or eight more? These things should be expected to happen eventually...We are auld
That's a bit of an oversimplistic view. Some NHL scouts are just old boys network guys who really aren't that great. Bob McKenzie just polls NHL scouts, from his Hockey News through TSN to now years. So it's the same thing as NHL scouts. And some of the so-called "amateurs" out there are doing just as much work and know just as much but are making more money selling their own guides and advertising on their sites, so don't need to work for peanuts driving around like some of the NHL beat scouts do. Some do get hired by NHL teams. Or turn down jobs from NHL teams. If the hockey news scouts were better they’d be NHL scouts
My bad, I didn’t know he was injured for the semi finals. He didn’t play well in the first round and got benched. You do know that Askarov was injured?
He did not come back from that undisclosed injury.
He got benched in the 2nd round and I think most of it is just a young player learning to handle a heavier work load. He came back and was playing ok til he got injured in the 3rd round. My bad, I didn’t know he was injured for the semi finals. He didn’t play well in the first round and got benched.
I was hoping a strong playoff run would have given the Preds confidence to make him our back up this season and natural progression to replace Saros.
With Saros extended, the path is not as clear anymore.
