Picking first or second would be very good ... i hope we will ... but a top 5 pick is guaranteed and just looking where i can follow the lottery per stream ... i found on the nhl.com/kings section the following ranks 3- 5 ;D

Vasili Podkolzin ... is considered "a complete winger with all the qualities ..." (and maybe with Kovy + Prokhorkin (and VV) on the team next season, there is a good chance to come over to NA if Rob + Luc can sweet-talk him (before the draft))

Bowen Byram ... has been compared to Kings defenseman Drew Doughty and "controls the game, plays with swagger, is smart and skilled, plays in all situations, doesn't panic with the puck ..."

Dylan Cozens ... compared to Jeff Carter ...

Not soooo bad elite options behind the top 2 *g*

People just love to dwell on the negative with regards to the lottery. If the Kings finished with the worst record, they have no chance. If they finish 2nd, they will draft 5th, if they finished 5th, they will draft 8th. It's like there is no possible way that they will draft better or even stay where they are because of no real reason other that it feels good to just be an Eeyore about it.
Statistically they are most likely to pick fourth. At least I didn’t say fifth.

Honestly whatever happens happens. So be it.

It would be just our luck to know we're locked in the 5th pick before it even gets there with 3 teams jumping up behind the Kings. So let's hope that it's chalk all the way to the 5th pick during the broadcast!

Worst case scenario is us picking either Dach or Cozens. Whom would you prefer? At pick #5, they cannot BOTH be off the table.....

How is the Order of the NHL Draft Determined?

Each of the 15 teams that missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs (or the teams that have acquired the first-round pick of a non-playoff team) will participate. The odds of each team winning is allocated based on inverse order of the final season standings.
Three separate drawings will be held:
  • The first determines the No. 1 selection.
  • The odds for the remaining teams will be adjusted proportionally for the second drawing, which will determine the No. 2 pick.
  • Then, again, for the third drawing, which will determine the No. 3 pick.
The remaining teams will then receive picks 4-15 based on inverse order of the standings. Any of the 15 teams can win the lottery, but no team can move back more than three spots.

How are Teams Selected?

Four-digit combinations are randomly generated by computers and then randomly assigned to the non-playoff teams.
There are 14 lottery balls, numbered 1-14. The balls are loaded 1-through-14 into the machine by a different lottery technician each year, with independent representatives as well as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman looking on.
Once the balls are loaded, the machine is switched on by the technician. An NHL representative calls for a draw of each of four balls at 15-second intervals, with Bettman making the draw.

I think this is a terrible set up but that's just me. Should be bottom 5 only and if you won the season previous you're automatically picking 6th or something.

Draft Lottery, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that our #2 pick stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Draft Lottery... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

The Kings should send McMaster to the draft lottery for luck.

I'll never forget - neither will my ex. Draft Day 1995. My ex was preggers with our first son and due in August. We signed up for the couples classes thing and
I went to all of them...EXCEPT the one on the 1995 Draft Day...that class was about CPR. I said, I'm staying home and watching the draft. She basically
understood, being a Kings fan, but was a little annoyed. She told the teach and class "my husband stayed home to watch the hockey draft" And of course,
not a one of them could understand the importance of the NHL Draft. No, I'm not sorry. And I had taken a CPR class before, thank you very much.

I don’t blame you, I’d stay home to watch the Kings draft the Finnish Scott Stevens.

Back then every bit of Kings info we got was in the LA Times the next day, or you can call the Kings News line, an 800 number where Nick Nickson updated fans with Kings news with a phone recording.

This lines up with a lot I have heard about Cozens. He has 1st line talent but needs to just keep evolving: Dylan Cozens Scouting Report: 2019 NHL Draft #6 - Last Word on Hockey

Here is a good one Dach: Kirby Dach Scouting Report: 2019 NHL Draft #7 - Last Word on Hockey

Here is Turcotte: Alex Turcotte Scouting Report: 2019 NHL Draft #5 - Last Word on Hockey

Might as well add Byram since he is going to be in the conversation: Bowen Byram Scouting Report: 2019 NHL Draft #4 - Last Word on Hockey

Podkolzin: Vasili Podkolzin Scouting Report: 2019 NHL Draft #3 -

It was interesting when they were comparing each guy. Byram compared to Doughty, Turcotte to O'Reilly, Dach to Getzlaf, Nash to Podkolzin and Cozens to Kesler.

The Kings can't do anything with regards to sweet talking Podkolzin because he is signed through the 2020-21 season. So he will be playing in Russia not only for the coming season but for the season after. SKA is one of the richest teams in Russia too so you have a kid who could sign for a significant amount of money and stick around since he will still be young or sign one of the ELC's that amounts to a fraction of what he could make without moving. Any agent would advise against that.

No thanks on Podkolzin. Talent can't be argued but too many hurdles to getting him over here.

I'm praying for Blake to NOT choose freaking Byram. Call me crazy, but a team that has trouble scoring goals shouldn't be wasting a top-5 pick on a damned defenseman!!!

With having a shitty season it wouldn't hurt to have the hockey gods on our side to get the first pick. Like Edmonton has been crap for years and they always end up winning...in the draft lottery.

Cozens for me if that wasnt obvious already.

Better skater, great edgework for a big kid & shoots from everywhere (not O’ Sullivan like).

Jeff Carter is a great comparable.

Yeah, i had read about the "bad" interview from him to come over and that he is signed. Therefore i have insert the "(before the draft)" line. Maybe he has a clause in his contract (or silent agreement) that he can go the NHL if he wants at any time. Who knows?! Only then and if he agrees to come over next season he should be picked or considered by our staff if we lost the top2 position.

Moneywise of coure it's a nearly no brainer and if he likes a lot to stay in Russia (but i have read today that he had dreams of playing in the NHL).

He could fall outside the Top10, but i don't think so. One team will grab the chance and take the risk.

The Kings need talent everywhere. If a d-man is the best player wherever they pick, then pick that guy.
