Nhl.com writers vote Mackinnon mvp for the 2nd straight year

His own fan base says Makar has been better this year. I think his case isn't great. Kucherov's is better, but still not great, despite the Art Ross. He actually has had a lot of support this year.

Drai or Helle
Makar and Mack are having impressive seasons during a tumultous time for their. team with all of the roster changes. That said, Nate is the most important to his team this year. He is the heart of the forward core...the only consistent one. That is a lot of pressure.

Kuch wasn’t even in the conversation till two weeks to go in the season. lol!
I think this is a problem of those who create the agenda, not Kucherov. These people do not see further than their own noses. Even now MacKinnon is leading in the polls, although every person who has seen at least 10 full Colorado games this season will say that it is Makar (the most valuable for Colorado). Kuch led in PPG all season, but no one talked about him, they talked about MacKinnon, who always had 5-6 more games.

I think Kuch had a better argument last season than this year. Vasi is back to Vezina level, point has been great the whole team has been solid. Helly should probably get it this year.

Shocker, professional hockey writers vote MacKinnon in a landslide and HF voters dont understand why because they only look at the Art Ross. Who didnt see that coming.

And last year was dominating for MacKinnon. This year should be even more.

This article reads more like a "Argue that MacKinnon should win the Hart" than a "Who should win the Hart and why?" prompt.
Did you read it?

"MacKinnon has repeatedly said the only trophy he cares about is the Stanley Cup."

"So, it makes sense that if MacKinnon were to hear he has been voted as NHL.com's favorite to win the Hart again this season, he probably would accept the compliment and quickly, as in one second later, move on to preparing to play the Stars in the first round."

"People see Colorado and think it's some super team. It wasn't. Their start was horrific, but when he's on, he can't be stopped."

"Colorado played 29 games before totally overhauling its goaltending, trading Georgiev to the San Jose Sharks for Mackenzie Blackwood and Annunen to the Nashville Predators for Scott Wedgewood. MacKinnon still had 41 points in the first 29 games. Colorado was 16-13-0 despite allowing 3.55 goals per game. Colorado went 12-6-2 in its next 20 games. MacKinnon had 34 points (10 goals, 24 assists) in that stretch."

"Then the whopper came Jan. 24, when the Avalanche traded MacKinnon's longtime linemate and close friend Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes in a three-team deal involving the Chicago Blackhawks. Rantanen was their second leading scorer at the time with 64 points, including a team-high 25 goals."

Yes. I thought that was evident from my comment that "this article reads more like a 'Argue that MacKinnon should win the Hart' than a 'Who should win the Hart and why?' prompt."

I'm not entirely sure why you think that those quotes about MacKinnon would change my mind. Those are all quotes that would be in an article with the prompt "Argue that MacKinnon should win the Hart."

I agree with that. I'm a huge Kucherov fan, and last season was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. This year he's been great, but it's more just "the usual" than "above and beyond."

Seems true league wide, which is why this is likely a goalie year. Or should be.

A guy chasing the Cup and not individual trophies.
Insane goaltender issues and carrying the team to wins after.
Losing your 2nd best forward and wing man mid season.
Insane turnover and injuries with the Avs using the most players out of any NHL team.

Points are points, but its amazing people cant look at the bigger picture.

And he got curb stomped voting so even less of a chance this season.

Are we supposed to defer to these “experts” or something?

And that's true, too. It's largely due to McDonagh's good play on defense and Vasilevskiy's play this season. And Guentzel's solid play at 5-on-5.
But while Kucherov is having a slightly less glamorous season, MacKinnon has lost all the positives he had last year. He has fewer points, fewer goals, more empty-net goals, more games played. With 1.5 minutes more ice time per game. Plus, he has a terrible 10% shooting percentage this year, on a lot more shots.
I don't like the idea of a Hart for Helly because he wasn't a level better than Vasilevskiy, it was very close.
I think the only player who could beat Kucherov for the Hart is Draisaitl, and even despite his 11 missed games.

There may be arguments in favor of Makar, here above they wrote about Werenski, and if we consider defensemen, he is having a very good season.

But still, for me it’s Draisaitl and Kucherov, Art Ross and Richard.

The NHL.com writers had a vote for MVP, which MacKinnon won, and then they wrote an article about it. Seems totally logical that they would include quotes from people explaining why MacKinnon deserved to win, and not quotes that argue that he doesn't deserve it.

I don’t get it. This doesn’t mean Nate is winning the Hart for sure does it?
Theyre actual voters so a small sample size. Could the other voters go in a different direction? Sure, but they were correct last year when everyone here was all about Kuch and voting wasnt close at all.

Yes, if they were to write an article about why MacKinnon deserves the Hart, and not an article about who deserves to win the Hart and why, it definitely makes sense that they would do that.

Which is why I said that thing that I said.

Figured he would be a finalist, but it’s a little crazy how quickly they default to him as the defacto pick once anyone else’s case takes a hit.

You seem to think you're arguing against something I've said. I'm gonna let you know right now that you aren't, so we can save the time of you telling me what was stated in that article that I read.
