Nhl.com writers vote Mackinnon mvp for the 2nd straight year

Because Drais plays 40% of his time with McDavid, and then gets the 2nd line d matchups the other 60% of the time. Id put up 100 points next to McDavid.
Lots of people play with McDavid and no one else on the Oilers comes close to even sniffing 100 points. My guess is that in the real world, you can't barely stand straight in a pair of skates.

I think the injuries cost him the Hart but he should be at least Top 3.
Nah Drai should win it. Hellebuyck had a great year but he wasn't the best goalie by all that much in most stats. If team support plays a role in the arguments against Kucherov and Draisaitl it absolutely should for Hellebuyck too.

MacKinnon fanboys are completely insufferable. At least last year they had arguments for their guy. There's zero argument for MacKinnon this year, just arguments AGAINST the other three real candidates.

Kuch had more points, tied in assists, more goals (on 55 fewer shots lmaooo), more primary assists, 9 more goals at 5v5, 9 more primary points at 5v5, 8 more total points at 5v5, and fewer empty net points. Save it about the defense too, all the stat cards have Kucherov's defensive value as not only a positive but close to MacKinnon's. And all this in fewer games. Imagine that.

And I'd still take Leon for Hart, btw. Just saying the "MacKinnon has a chance narrative is so braindead." Or if he does have a chance, it proves this award may not mean as much as it should.

Recency bias is really going to hurt Draisaitl. Not only he missed 11 games at right near the end of the season, McDavid came back for the last 4 games of the season, all in which the Oilers won said 4 games. Draisaitl can still win it, but out of the 4 candidates, he has the biggest hill to climb. Shame he got injured, he was my choice for MVP until his injuries.

Live look at the debate on what criteria to use to not pick Kucherov

Sportsbooks weren't even putting odds out on MacKinnon at the end of the year in the Hart race, they took him out altogether when Kucherov tied him in points and won the Ross outright on a tiebreaker. I really don't even think he's going to be a candidate.

"Top 2 in points twice" is doing so much heavy lifting here lmfaooooo. Would you care to share who finished first those two years?
Kucherov. Mackinnon finished top 2 twice. It isn't all or nothing, 2nd is still really good.

Kucherov is definitely a better finisher. Mackinnon is a better play driver. It depends what you value more. Both put up similar stats , kucherov produced a bit better.

Yes Mackinnon finished *gasp* 2nd , twice.

I wouldn't personally give it to either but the nhl.com staff picked Mackinnon. Not everything has to be about putting the other down at every turn

Sure. But MacKinnon is not close. He trails Leon or Kuch in basically every meaningful stat. And he's one shy of the same number of empty net points as "Empty Net Merchant" Kucherov last year but the Mack fanboys don't seem to mind all of a sudden
It seems the voting has really bothered you on a personal level

We just gotta wait and see

And I think that's a bad thing, which is why I pointed out that the article didn't read like a discussion about who should win the hart, but an argument for MacKinnon to win the Hart.

I know the 4th Estate is dying. I just think that's generally bad thing.

I think NHL.com is essentially the media and public relations department of the NHL, and shouldn't be treated as anything more. They may be pretending to be journalists, but they are really just mouthpieces for the league.

And the 4th Estate isn't dying, it's purposefully being killed by the people who want to make the world even worse in the name of profits, and it's been going on since at least 1987.

I mean, yeah.
