He's 2nd on the team in points. lol Who cares what his all around game is. Bedard was one of the worst defensive players in the league last year, would you have agreed with Richardson healthy scratching him at any point? lol

Just go look at the Flyers board, no one from other teams needs to watch, they do the watching for us, and they all aren't happy. But I'm sure Torts is right, like always, in your mind.
I imagine that one day he will thank Torts for making him accountable.

Do you mean: If it's a decision by Torts, it must be wrong.?

You guys would have hated watching NHL games in the past eras when all coaches demanded players play the game properly or sit on the bench. Coaches like Scotty, Darryl Sutter, Pat Quinn, Al Arbour, Glen Sather, Keenan, Toe Blake, Dick Irvin ... all legends who had little time for slackers.

How is that any different from your position: if it's Torts it must be right?

And again, have you been watching Flyer games?

no, i mean it strikes me as unwise to bench your second leading scorer. i don't know why rattling off a list of famous coaches is supposed to respond to this sentiment, but you do you.

No I haven't and it is exactly why I said I will not comment on this benching.

However I will say that Torts is a highly respected coach among those that know what the f*** they are talking about. The armchair coaches on this board who think they know more of what it takes to coach in the NHL than vets like Torts are only kidding themselves.

Lol yes, only those that know what the f*** they are talking about appreciate Torta. f*** that, many NHLers hated him, many people have no idea what the f*** he is doing, and there's a reason he can't keep a job for more than 3-5 years. It's been made to think he's good off of 1 Stanley Cup run, he sucks.

The above comment fully explains why you criticize this decision even though you don't watch.

That would make sense, if Flyers fans agreed with Torts decision, every single one of them hates it. But you keep defending the moron, typical you.

He's scratching their future, for no reasonable reason, in a season where they aren't contenders, but are building for the future. You would have defended him scratching Bedard last year, cuz you're a Torts sheep.

Hockey is an emotional sport. The goalie waiving his stick caused him to miss the rest of the season with that injury. Not to excuse what he did but I've seen far worse from guys. Hell Dustin Byfuglien tried to decapitate Luongo back in the day.

Yeah id be f***ing pissed at the goalie too. I don't think that was 000% accident, that's not how these things work. But I wouldn't go out and do that to him, I think. Who knows in an adrenalin filled game though.

Still not excusable from Harpur and should be suspension worthy.

Shame we didn't grab him, but I get it. Management won't want him taking a spot in a couple years when Lev and Rinzel are ready.

Am I missing why he’d get in the way if they claimed him for just this year?
We already have Jones and Murphy on the right side. Sure, Brodie (who is playing RD) sucks, but both him and Fabbro are making a couple million this season. I don't think Davidson would waive one (Brodie) just to add Fabbro and his cap hit. Remember that the Hawks have a few million of cap space open specifically to account for Bedard's bonuses. Taking Fabbro, and waiving Brodie, would potentially give us a cap overage next season, and why bother with that when this team is trash either way. Again, not like they'd keep Fabbro long term here.

Gotcha.

Should have claimed him and traded Murphy in the same day.

Non factor that we didn’t claim him for the most part, but the Brodie two year deal basically blocked any chance of it being a consideration with that second year.
