Torontos only hope is to do something fast or hope the ahl guys they may have can be a Neimi/Binnington/Ward. But still was so silly to actually give up things and cap to get Murray

They'd be better off giving up a 2nd to us for Mrazek than having Soderblom take over the crease this year.

So, the investigation finds no evidence against Cole. Ridiculous, the knee-jerk suspension.

If he is indeed innocent he should sue his team, the NHL and of course the tweeter if they ever find her.
Just as knee jerk to conclude nothing. They showed them reaching out on Twitter to the account and posting they got no reply less than a day later... do they know the person even actually looked at messages in that short span? They probably got tons of messages and responses blasting them. There doesn't seem to be a long wait to go the other way. Expecting an immediate response is a lot.

It's not a reach to assume someone who posted what she posted would be checking her account frequently for a while after posting it. The poster is well aware of what has happened since.

Good chance she has lawyered up and isn't just answering questions left in her DMs.

It's short-sighted to think this is already over.

Granted, but the league still did the right thing by ending his suspension. They can act again if anything else materializes.

Did I understand correctly that NHL made the investigation not police nor any independent organisation.

There is no police report with an alleged victim so why would police investigate an anonymous post on twitter? And what independent organization would be involved in investigating again an anonymous post?

NHL did right attempt to contact the person who posted and received no reply thus they have nothing to investigate, nor can they punish Cole for what is again an anonymous twitter post

It could be argued they should not have suspended him to begin with which is what NHLPA will likely grieve about potentially

I'm sure TB/the NHL would have rather risked paying money than letting a potential rapist suit up while under investigation, even if it breaches the NHLPA.

Exactly. Innocent until proven guilty seems to be a concept foreign to some folks. We see these rush to judgements far too often on this board and in society as a whole these days by people who seemingly love dirt... especially when it involves high-profile athletes.

"Innocent until proven guilty" has little to do with what private citizens think about an individual.

I disagree, no rush to judgement, but an investigation to find facts.
And people are arrested all the time and sometimes held or post bond before guilt or innocence is determined.
If they let him play for x number of days or weeks and it was shown he did it the PR would have been terrible.
He sat out a few games (with pay) while his employer did its due diligence. Not a big deal.

Even if found innocent Coles' reputation will forever be tainted.... same with Evander Kane and others.
According to you .... I, or anyone, could go on social media and accuse any athlete of sexual interference or rape and that person would instantly be suspended and that's perfectly fine. Ridiculous!

They could sue if they wished.
