I watched those games and anyone who ever thought he was going to be a number one D was telling lies from the get go. How many PP points did he have? Because I don't remember many at all. The idea that Tortorella put him out there doesn't sell me either, because it was more likely some twisted way to send a message to a guy who should have been put there instead if faith in Marc. He could play with a push broom and contribute the same he does now offensively. Nothing. Which has pretty much always been the case.

I watched those games too. This isn’t exactly an uncommon opinion around here. Or around the league for that matter.

Staal played the most PP minutes on the Rangers in 10-11. He also led them in PP points. There was definitely a feeling his offense was on the upswing.

That was fun. Next time maybe make it where you can’t hit the same target twice, so players will shoot at all the others besides the big one in the middle.

Nice touch by the Blues bringing back their former stars Bernie Federko, Al McInninis, Keith Tkachuk and Brett Hull. I liked the woman's game to be honest and I liked the last one shooting from the crowd.

Now with alot of rain forecast near me near Philly, it will be a perfect day to watch the all star game.

Don’t forget the greatest player to ever play for the Blues in Wayne Gretzky!

Obviously he didn’t have the best Blues career ever, but he’s the only guy in the debate for best all-time to ever wear their uniform.

The Great One was in the building. I guess the Blues didn't think the cup of coffee he had with them was worth it.

I don't want to argue with you, but whatever Marc Staal's offensive ship was, it has sailed. Straight out into the harbor and sank.

I never said it didn’t. I’m saying there’s a reason it did that has nothing to do with his talent level and everything to do with what happened to him. I’m not saying he’d ever could’ve been a top D scorer either. More a 1D along the lines of OEL, McDonagh or Suter. At least for a couple of years. When the league changed to the speed game it is now, he would’ve had a hard time maintaining that level. That happened around 2016ish, though there were a small number of teams playing it before then, including the Rangers. We would’ve only gotten a few years of him at that level anyway. But just like a Panarin signing when he first came over probably gives us a Cup, I’m of the opinion that an undiminished Marc Staal does too.

he slowed down a bit more than he needed to at the 9 second mark. I thought he could’ve been faster

The thing was fixed. Pity win for the Isles.

Edit: he also has a lot of momentum and probably didn’t want to go into that turn too fast. Imagine losing an edge and wiping out on that turn at that speed. You slide into the boards and ouch!

He's never been an All-Star at least Dan Girardi was and was always the better player in my opinion.

Marc is better than an All-Star, he's a Staal-Star. Loved by his coached and awarded a grossly disproportionate amount of ice time relative to his advanced age, deteriorating skills, and poor on-ice performance.

Imagine worrying about Kreider slowing down from warp speed to like light speed or whatever it is you nerds are worried about.

Guy is a missle. And I’m drunk in south beach so don’t @ me
