They are. Good scouts can project future impact regardless of league. Fantilli is a tier above Carlsson, IMO. I would have been happy with both, but having the choice and not the leftover is even better.

Top tier college players lose far more then they gain for sticking out all their years in college and taking their pick of teams. There is no upside for players like Fantilli to do that.

PV likely got what he wanted out of this season. A franchise player on an ELC has been secured. It's hard to argue with what he's done so far but moving forward from here is where his job will be judged more critically

A big, physical, ultra competitive three zone player describes Fantilli perfectly.
Carlsson brings that too but Fantilli is always going at it. Both make great reads defensively for being so young.

I’m gonna cope, Fantilli or Carlsson fits our needs more . We already got the flash with Z and Terry. Need a franchise 1C and we got it now. Oh and yeah there is this other guy McTavish also.

I know this won't probably make anyone feel better but look how lucky we got with Zegs dropping. it sucks for sure to be there til the end, but we have had things go our way as well

Zegras went to college for one season. Was never an issue with him, and Fantilli is a grade above Zegras. No chance he plays in college for 3 more years. He won't even play one more.

An unfortunately real possibility though. Fantilli and Carlsson are not the kinds of prospects that make you a contender immediately...which stresses me out intensely because we could be f***ing tanking again, and I already didn't want to do that this season despite Bedard.

Zegras has 85-95 point potential with a half way decent coach, a clicking power play and some actual top 6 wingers.
Terry has 40 goal+ and ppg upside.
McTavish upside is a little hard to tell right now, but i think he will be at least a 30 goal 70 point forward that is responsible and a good leader.
Add fantilli to that forward core and things look great.
Already have good charecter depth guys in Gaucher, Jones, Groulx, Lundy.
Maybe Bedard ends up being like Lafrieniere since he can’t focus on hockey due to sexual predators on the training staff and teammates not helping him like they didn’t with Beach. Can’t do squats when you feel a trainers boner on your cheeks….

I like how Carlsson plays the middle so often. He does so way more han Fantilli but Fantilli is just a perfect match style wise

There is a LOT of room between straight up tanking and being a cup contender.
We're obviously not going to be a contender, but things would have to go very, very badly for us to be tanking again next season.

Why on earth would Fantilli play another year in college? He's not going to get his college degree anyway. He's going to want to start his entry level contract so he can get his money sooner. As he should

I think you are underselling both players and the already built up prospect pool.
We prob need a good trade or 2 this year.
I think we will trend up into the 6-12 pick this year, and then the next year we will be right outside the playoffs. Not tanking, improving.
