NHL 19 New Features - EA SPORTS Official Site

- Pond Rink with 1v1v1 game
- 200 Legends - no actual teams to play with?
- "Crossovers and Edge Work"
- Some More Customization Options

What the actual ****.

I knew not to get my hopes up. This franchise is done, and I hate that HUT has bailed these developers out in the eyes of their stakeholders.

Only thing that can fix this series is direct competition.

The funny thing is, the legends are probably added mainly for HUT.

About 75% of the customization options added would be for the new pond player models.

SOOOO it's really an update to one game mode, and then a 1v1v1 thing on an outdoor rink.

Fantastic Job.

Looks like they're going with the NBA 2k model in terms of upgrading your player for online play. I'm willing to bet improving your player will be extremely hard to do without spending money as well.

It's a good thing we still have modded NHL 2004 to play for free. Hell, I'd even go back to NHL 11 before playing any of these new-gen games.

In NHL 19, you’ll have a separate scouting budget, and will have to hire and fire scouts with an eye on their regional specializations. For instance, one may be an expert in Russia and Scandinavia but may have a mediocre awareness of players elsewhere. Scouts will return detailed reports with graded attributes and text descriptions, and there’s a fog-of-war element: Any players to whom you don’t assign a scout will be blind spots, with no hints of their abilities. And if you draft someone you haven’t scouted, you still won’t see their ratings until they play a few games somewhere in your organization.

“It’s deep enough to be a standalone product,” said Ho of the new scouting system.

Unfortunately, that’s the only major improvement for Franchise. And it sounds like the only change for Be a Pro, the single-player career mode, is the addition of skill trees for traits akin to what’s available in FIFA. Here’s hoping Be a Pro — my personal favorite mode — gets some love next year.

More than 200 NHL legends will be playable in the game, although the publisher is only talking about Gretzky right now. They’ll be available in exhibition games, as well as in three online modes: Pro-Am, Threes and Hockey Ultimate Team.

heck
I don't know what people were expecting. This is EA. They have been doing this for the last decade. I only buy NHL games every 2-3 years now because it's definitely not worth the full price tag every year just for a roster update and some minor tweaks. And quite frankly the series has gone down the toilet since making the move to PS4/XB1.

They didn't really touch Franchise Mode or Be a Pro mode at all. Something about Fifa traits to Be a Pro and enhanced scouting in Franchise. I was excited that the pond hockey was a start to a revamped Be a Pro mode but nope 1v1v1 EASHL online mode. The actual gameplay looks much better than 18's but it is a trailer, I'll wait to see what people say after playing it.

Did you guys see EA has been exposed for DDA? It's been pretty obvious for years now. My club can completely dominate a team and their goalie is stopping everything and they come down and flick a shot on net and score. They basically give the worse players better computers to balance the game out. So these bad players win and actually think they are good. Opposed to getting smacked and trying to get better. Also, for all you dummies wasting money on HUT. EA will match bad players up with really good players with good cards. So when you lose you think it's because of the players you have and more inclined to waste money on packs. Stop buying this trash. I bought every NHL game since like Faceoff 98 until two years ago and do not regret it one bit.

What does 1v1v1 even mean? 3 nets. More shit no one asked for. The scouting sounds amazing but that should have been a feature years ago. Wasn't there already an NHL game with a bunch of Legends a couple years ago? What the f*** EA?

what the f*** was that shit? I was beginning the trailer and thinking "holy shit, that's cool -- your BAP/Live The Life starts on an outdoor rink and you have a cool storyline to enter the NHL like 2k, now?" but nope. That's it. And then I see the features on their site.

Are they serious with that? What the f***? lol
