The draft has to be reworked.

I can scout a goaltender from CHINA called Leonard Stanford, wtf is that?

Also, there are way too many 6'5"+ and 210lbs+ players. Most draftees aren't that big, this isn't the NFL.

Mike Ovechkin from Macedonia is my favorite.

Why can't I switch goalies in the middle of a game?

My goalie let in 2 goals in 6 shots today, so I figured I'd replace him since we have a back up goalie.

When I pause the game, the options for team management are;injury report and strategies..

Where do I switch goalies mid game?

After learning the game and the CPU's tendencies a little more, this game has become incredibly easy. Scoring on wristers is a stupid-simple flick of the stick and bam, screaming wrister.

After playing some games on Superstar, even with sliders all the way down, the slapshots are wayyyyyy too hard.

Creating odd-man-rushes and breakaways is stupid easy now as well.

But heck, regardless of some of these issues (and I have many more), the game is still a heck of a lot of fun.

Sheldon Winchester, the 6'6 240 lbs right wing from North Korea.

I see they still haven't fixed the nationality problem... I mean, it's not only lazy as hell but downright racist in some cases. I'm sure there are some Baltic NHL players who wonder why they can only draft Russian-sounding players from their countries. Implicit social commentary much?

The weight/height problem stems from the fact that each player grows at a fixed rate until they're 20 (I think?) and add a few pounds over the course of their careers. Usually players can add anywhere from 30 to 60 pounds from the day they're drafted until their prime but EA hasn't bothered/figured a way to simulate players "bulking up" in preparation for the NHL and over the course of their careers. So you end up drafting tons of big players from the beginning which will serve to increase the average size, but once they're in their mid-late 20's they'll be more or less on par with real life.

The players are too tall, though, and it's a carry over from previous versions. In my NHL 12 file like half of my players are 6' 4" or taller, and there are teams who don't have anyone smaller than 6' in their roster.

I like and hate the new skating. I like how players such as Raymond and Grabner actually show how fast they are. I don't like the wait for turning and stopping.

Very relevent to my conversation with the Slovenian girl I met in University today, "It's Lina with an 'I' not an 'E'! I'm not Russian" and she wasn't impressed when my buddy got confused and called her Slovakian

I agree it's bad but I guess none of us know how big an issue it would be to actually fix that. For each nationality there seems to be a pool of names to pick from, but only a few nationalities have that pool of names cut down.

Out of the European countries, only Finland, Sweden, Russia, Czech Republic, Germany and Slovakia select from a pool that contains names from only that country, all the other ones either piggyback on another country (All the countries that you draft from Russia piggyback on Russian names despite some of those countries not even speaking a slavic based language, Switzerland piggybacks on Germany though oddly enough Norway and Dennmark do NOT piggy back on the Sweden), or they just pick from the immense pool of names which ends up making Hungarian, Polish, Slovenian ect.

I've actually seen a Polish player take a Polish sounding name (Probably taken from a Canadian player somewhere in the game who had a Polish name) but those are few an far between. It's far more likely to get a Croation with the name Brad McDonald than by some chance get one with a Yugoslavian sounding name.

It's pure laziness from EA as usual. Lets not give them too much credit. Just one of the many infuriating things about the NHL series games. Until they have some competition it will never change.

Quick question. In GM connected, if I send a player with a 1 way contract down to the minors, he has to go through waivers. When I send him to the AHL if another team claims him do I get a salary cap penalty at all? Or do I just lose him for nothing?

Having a connection problem with a certain player on GM Connected. Every time one of us invites the other it tries to connect but then says that the connection to the player is lost, or that the game session is no longer available, or that the opponent left the game. Anyone else having these problems? We only have it with each other, we tried reseting our modems but it didn't work. It appears to be account related and not hardware or connection related.

So... EA Sports Hockey League... Unlocked some boost packs early on... I thought I was using the O-Dman boost pack that boosted almost everything for my guy like +3 or +5 even... my offensive defenseman was at a 71 overall for a veteran 3... I played a bunch of drop in games this afternoon and completely dominated, scored a bunch of goals, my player gradings were consistently A's... I turn off my system for a break now my guy is at a 64??? WTF??? I have no idea what's going on in that hockey shop either, it's so confusing.

Can anyone help me and tell me as to how to I can restore my guy?

...nm, I think I found out what was wrong lol... was using the wrong boost pack.

My game has the weirdest glitch ever right now. In both Play Now and EASHL, the pause menu is actually ****ed up. Above the action tracker, it doesn't show the team logos or the score. Next to the empty white boxes where those should be, it says "999 SOG" in red text for both teams. In the middle, where the EA logo is... it's still there, but IT'S SIDEWAYS.

I wonder if this is a one-time thing or if I've got a rare bug in my game all of a sudden. Tomorrow, if my game is still like this I will try to post a picture.

Edit: I don't know if it's just in Play Now and EASHL, but that's all I checked.

I'm not sure if it would be a memory storage problem, but I've never seen anything like it. I mean, in FIFA games you can scout dozens of different countries and they'll all have their own appropriate name pool. Sounds more like laziness than anything else which is disappointing and takes away a bit from the flavour of the game.

Something else that REALLY nags me is how you can only see the last 4 seasons' stats of a player in BAGM. Why? They simply decided to limit the showings at some point in the franchise; I know in NHL 09 you could still see the whole stat table.

What makes it weirder is that they DO show all seasons for players in GM Connected, where the stats get refreshed every time you open up the table! Again, did some programmer "skim" the stats and forgot to put them back on?

I drafted a guy like this, he was 38 overall. His only attributes higher than the low 60's were 80's in fighting skill, strength, aggressiveness, balance and body checking

I hate it when you draft a guy like that. I drafted a defensive defensemen in the third round, he had 3 1/2 stars but he was the lowest possible overall and never grew at all. And here I thought I was getting a steal.

I know, but there really isn't much we can do about it. It's definitely low priority for EA.
