I think LA will have a hard time if they are set on Quenville because they are 5+ years away from being a potential cup contender as things sit today. Even with the FOA pick, Coach Q probably has more attractive offers from Philly and Florida lined up.

The others retreads like Vigneault, Tippett and Hitch probably would want at least a 4 year deal and cost too much. That’s why you’re left with slim pickings with Toddy Mac and illiterate Bob Hartley.

We can definitely discuss off season plans, but the reality is that how the draft plays out determines how fast our rebuild is. If we get Hughes/Kakko, and somehow luck out in the Panerin sweepstakes, we could make the playoffs as early as next year. If we miss out on Hughes/Kakko, or don't get lucky with Panerin, the Kings will need at least 3 years, and hopefully win the lottery next year.

I wonder if our braintrust has started putting together a sheet yet or are still looking for pens and a napkin?

Given the relationship Tallon has had with Quenneville, plus with Florida being a great place to live for the elderly, I suspect that Joel to the Panthers is a done deal.

They'll likely be the landing spot for Panarin and perhaps Bobrovsky as well.

So Sturm then? Or TMac?

Betting it is McLellan. With so many vacancies and Florida moving so quickly to sign the top free agent coaching candidate, I don't think the Kings want to waste time with their coaching decision.

Current coaching vacancies: Anaheim, Buffalo, Edmonton, Florida, Los Angeles, Ottawa and Philadelphia.

Florida has their man in Quenneville, and all signs point to Dallas Eakins as the next Ducks coach, and Sheldon Keefe is staying put in Toronto with the Marlies.

Yup, I was saying that the Kings would be competing for coaches with a bunch of other teams. Still waiting to hear about more spots opening up with the Wild and who knows with Columbus. Guarantee BLuc want Toddy Mac like no tomorrow, but wouldn’t surprise me if he’s asking for a lot of money with all the buyers. And Beckerman probably won’t approve the number given how many coaching dollars have been flushed down the toilet by the brain trust.

Would not be overly thrilled with a McLellan hire. He would really need to outline a convincing plan for the Kings moving forward. The main thing is getting a guy who can develop younger talent (which i guess is something TM can do) but also will earn enough respect from veterans that they play at max level day after day. Can he do this?

On the other hand, pickings are slim and multiple teams are looking to hire. Demand is high, supply is low.
