I believe Richardson was real deal until he wasn't?

You had me curious the reaction at the time he was announced as the next coach, so I dug up the thread.

In skimming the first two pages it's a mix of people either being happy about the signing or taking a wait and see approach, but I don't think I saw any posters say they were against it from day 1.

I remember not having much of an opinion at the time because I'd be lying to you if I said I knew anything about the guy as a coach who had been an assistant coach in Montreal.

I saw him on NHL network a few hours ago. Very relaxed, confident guy. Didn’t take much away from hearing him other than that. He also said he would not be coaching them next year. Seems likely he wants an NHL job and is opening up the door for that.

Seravalli was on SN this afternoon after speaking with Carle in the morning. He gathered that Carle is not interested in coaching a team that is in a rebuild situation.
You’d think a first time NHL coach would be more open to coming aboard this situation with Bedard and other high draft picks marinating but f*** him if he’s not really. Couldn’t care less. He might fall flat on his face.

Arniel took the jackets job like a decade ago and failed. Took him a decade to get another shot. I don’t blame Carle for wanting to be more selective. NHL goes through coaches fast. Tocchet joined Van during 22/23 season. He’s now like the 10th or so longest tenured HC at just over 2 years.

I don’t blame him either but if Im a playoff team I’m looking for someone more proven.

I would’ve thought he’d prefer to coach a team like the Hawks with up-and-coming talent compared to a dumpster fire like the Rangers lol

I understand his perspective on not doing a rebuild. But if I’m a team ready to win not sure he’s who I want either. NHL is still an adjustment. So now you’re talking borderlines teams that a couple moves can swing them one way or another.
