Why is the Canes logo in GA though?
It's Balley, so...

Holy shit it f***ing happened

Talk about a upgrade for the viewing public

From what I read, it won't be included in Amazon Prime pricing, there will need to be additional payments.

Still, stream quality should be better with Amazon backing the enterprise.

Would this have blackout restrictions?
Doesn't look like it. This would be for local markets to be able to stream/watch their home games on Prime.

Per the AP
The agreement with Diamond Sports’ largest creditors allows it to emerge from bankruptcy, continue operations and prevents a total collapse of the regional sports network system where the NBA, NHL and MLB would have to step in to take over production and distribution of most of their teams.

Last season, MLB had to take over production and distribution of the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks after Diamond let rights payments to the Padres lapse and was unable to agree to an amended deal with the Diamondbacks.

Under the terms of the restructuring agreement, Amazon will make a minority investment in Diamond and enter into a commercial arrangement to provide access to Diamond’s content via Prime Video.

Customers will be able to access their local team’s content on Prime Video channels where Diamond has rights. Pricing and availability will be announced at a later date. Regional sports content will also remain available on cable and satellite providers.

I'm not sure I read the blurb the same way you do. It says local markets will still have broadcast available through cable, so it is possible the stream will be blacked out in the local market.

That's not how I read this:

"Customers will be able to access their local team’s content on Prime Video channels where Diamond has rights. Pricing and availability will be announced at a later date. Regional sports content will also remain available on cable and satellite providers."

Reading that, we should be able to get Canes Bally streams on Prime Video channels in the Triangle where Diamond has rights. The content will also remain available on cable and satellite providers.

Anytime in the past (playoffs excluded) where we have a simulcast option, we've had a blackout of the non-broadcast capability unless you have that included. For example, when ESPN is broadcasting our games you can't stream them locally without a cable subscription. Another example, when we are simulcast on the NHL network and Bally, only the Bally option is available in the Triangle, you can't watch the NHL network option.

Right, but wouldn't that be customers trying to access their "local" team's content on Prime Video where Diamond has rights?

Not favorite team, their "local" team.

I might be reading into that statement too much, but it seems pretty clear to me Amazon plans to be the streaming option within Diamond's local footprint for that team.

It could be like the Bally's app and they will require proof of subscription to a TV service with Bally's to use the streaming. Then the only thing that changes for those of us in the Triangle is stream reliability.

It’s funny how putting a good playmaker like Jarvis with the other two makes it a mildly dangerous third line. Jarvis finds them charging the net well, his growth this year has been impressive. He’s taking that extra second with the puck and doing good things with it.

Of course it limits the second line too playing with Fast, but then Rod is justified playing Staal more!

Hopefully Necas passes Rod’s tests quickly and gets put in Fast’s spot within a game or two.

Friedman mentioned us while talking about Cam Talbot. Woof. I don’t care if he’s having a good season and he’s a cheap ufa to be.

We should be mentioned in every goalie conversation. It’s that desperate over here. But I‘d hope that DW is smart enough to realize that the patchwork goalie plan is a bad one and we make a push at a legitimate starter at some point between now and next season.

Agreed, he's not the answer. But I would have been looking at him as a band aid before Martin popped up on waivers.

Heck, if he's cheap trade for Talbot and waive Martin again. Again, Talbot and Martin don't prevent them from making a bigger move.

Claiming Martin may make another move easier in that we change the leverage against us and may be able to get a better deal.
