I thought this was funny from the "Buffalo Clearing House" thread on the trade board.

It won't be funny when he's on our bottom pairing next year.

I thought Tlusty-Jordan-Semin was the best looking line that was iced. Of course, we only saw it for about 6 games. Those guys looked like the TEA line did last year.

Fancy stats confirm. And without the unrealistic shooting percentages. They just dominated possession every shift.

Some combinations, sorted by TOI (>300 mins) for the second player:

Eric + Semin = Good
Eric + Tlusty = Okay
Eric + Skinner = Okay
Jordan + Gerbe = Good
Jordan + Dwyer = Bad
Jordan + Semin = Very good
Semin + Tlusty = Very good
Skinner + Lindhom = Okay

The annual next-best-thing @JohnForslund playoff TV update: Five games in eight days starting Thurs with Colo-Minn. And there's a wrinkle...

@LukeDeCock
@JohnForslund's partner on games 1, 2 & 4 of the Colo-Minn series? Making his national TV debut, Tripp Tracy.

Just going by that, the logic lineups would be:

Tlusty-Jordan-Semin
Skinner-Eric-Lindholm

With Gerbe as a utility guy.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Lindholm should be ready for a full season in the Top 6, and Gerbe works as a 3rd pairing guy. Dwyer is an idea fourth liner. Nash had a good enough season, but is a 3rd/4th line tweener so it's hard to say where he fits. I could do without pretty much any other forward on the team.

Injuries also put a bit of a wrinkle into trying to get consistent line-ups at times (not all season though). Skinner missed 11 games early in the season due to his wrist. Semin missed 17 off and on for a concussion and for various other reasons. Tlusty missed 14. Lindholm also struggled with injuries the first 1/2 of the season.

Eric, Jordan and Gerbe were really the only top guys out of those 7 that were consistently healthy. I would like to see that Tlusty-Jordan-Semin line again next year. When they were on, I thought they were the best line. Too bad Jordan doesn't have slightly better hands. He's a beast on the puck.

Eric Fehr seems like a good comparable as he was signed to a similar one year deal prior to the 2012-2013 campaign and put up similar per game production in the shortened season. The Caps rewarded him with a 2 year extension at a cap number of $1.5 mil per.

2 yrs 950k-1.25m per yr.

given Gerbe's 'balls to the wall' style this year this sounds a bit low. I think someone would pay him around $2 million for 2 or 3 years if he were to go to free agency. he's a pretty decent all around player IMO that can play different roles.

Well, I know what series I'm watching.

Actually, Tripp has gotten a lot better in recent years, it'll be interesting to hear the impressions a broader audience has of him.

If you can get past Tripp's food references, and name drops, and toeing the company line with regard to buzz words/phrases, and general inane tangents, he's a pretty decent commentator. This whole north/south business aside, which I don't even recall being brought up prior to JR's comments, he can dissect a play pretty well.

He's got a great personality and makes tough seasons tolerable. Plus he really really likes talking about timeouts lately.

He's an RFA so probably not.

Gerbe is a pretty streaky player. His numbers were good this year for what we were expecting so if they want to see if he can repeat these types of numbers they may just opt for a 1 year deal. I don't see how he gets more than 3 times what he made this year.

Would he even be allowed to play for Russia? He's technically from Kazakhstan.

He may have both Russian and Kazakh passports as he was born in the Soviet Union. He also has played for the Russian national team before in the EHT and junior tournaments.
