I'm not counting them out in the southeast. I'm not counting anyone out, not even the Caps. Ever since we've been slumping though you've been saying every team is playing good though!

Compared to us, every team has played better in the last weeks, aside from Florida.

Canes are a better team than us right now.

I think the Devils would have taken Landeskog over Huberdeau and Larsson. Would've been very close between Landeskog and Larsson though. I think the room would have been split.

There is no doubt in my mind Larsson was #1 on our big board, even with Landeskog, RNH, and Huberdeau.

Of those 4, Larsson was probably second in terms of NHL ready ability - behind Landeskog - and had the 2nd highest upside behind RNH. He played a position of need on a team with a defensive mindset.

I'm willing to say Larsson is already the best one of the group. If we had #1 overall, I'd bet we'd make the same choice.

I think Larsson and Landeskog were the clear #1 and #2 choices for us. The fact Landeskog got so much pre-draft hype from the Devils was imo part smokescreen to hide their interest in Larsson and part actual respect for Landeskog.

I'm starting the Josh Nichols for next year's Calder hype train right now. Any Ranger announcer who wants on board has to pay me a fee.

If we didn't win the lottery, we probably had Hamilton targeted.

I'd much rather have Larsson than any of those guys. While we do lack forward depth at the moment, we also have an old slow d with no offense other than Larsson and Zids. Larsson is so important to us now and will be our clear number one in a few years. How could you complain about the pick?

Larsson will be a top 5 D-man in the league at some point in the near future. Quote me on it.

He's already the one of the 3 or 5 best d-men in the Atlantic, as a 19 year old.

Andy Greene needs to be on your offense list if Larsson makes it. Fayne probably borderline makes it as well.

Also, Larsson is part of the slow problem on defense right now, so he isn't helping that part.

I put him at 6th after Letang, McDonagh, Greene, Girardi, Martin.

You don't think Larsson is slow? I mean he gets beat wide, or almost beat wide, a few times a game. His foot speed straight ahead is ok, but his acceleration, change of direction, and backwards skating are poor right now.

I think you're watching the wrong player, since you think the Atlantic may only have 3 defenseman better than him, when he has 4 points and is only playing 17 minutes a night. He also only had 8 shots in 16 games.

I still think Larsson is going to be good in the future but he's nowhere near really good right now.

Streit, Visnosvsky, and Staal all would have to easily make that list as well. Timmonen probably should make that list if it's just this season. Fayne makes the list, but only because we get to see him every day, it'd be hard for an outsider to tell.

Then there is a whole mess of defenseman who are probably close in value so you could argue a bunch of them above Larsson or a bunch below him, if we're just talking this season.

Larsson doesn't play PP or PK at this point or get major minutes, he's not a top ten in the division yet.
