I think this is really just another way of saying the season is to long, no?....Maybe an unpopular opinion but the NHL offseason is too short - I just watched Florida win the Cup a couple months ago and they’re right back at it.

Igor supposedly rejected an 8 x $11M contract offer.
Sorokin + Varlamov salaries = $11M.
And plenty here bemoaned spending that much money on a goalie tandem instead of signing a Dominque-type at league minimum.
Its possible. its also likely he just does not want to play for the rangers after this. who knows. In all honesty that is a horrible contract they offered him IMHO if they sign him for more then that its going to look bad in 4 yearsIgor wants to be paid more than perennial playoff bust Panarin. He has a fair argument on that one. Drury may need to pay the man.
Boston has Swayman and Korpisalo for $11M+. I’ll take the Lou Sorokin/Varly special all day long over that combo as Korpisalo is average on a moonshot night.
They can't defend speed. They didn't add much in the offseason to address it.Saw about a period of the rags Pitt game last night. It’s only 1 period of 1 of 82 games, but the penguins look like shit.

well they brought in Aho which should have helped, but waived him out of camp. go figure. They can't defend speed. They didn't add much in the offseason to address it.
The first two weeks are usually weird as teams get settled, but LMAO at Dubas-Pens. Feel bad for Syd there.Saw about a period of the rags Pitt game last night. It’s only 1 period of 1 of 82 games, but the penguins look like shit.
Could be, it doesn’t seem like there’s animosity. More like he wants to be the highest paid guy on the team. I think he’s right based on their salary structure and individual performances. Its possible. it’s also likely he just does not want to play for the rangers after this. who knows. He's been better than Sorokin the last couple years and it's reasonable for him to want to be the team's highest paid player. I predict he comes in at 8 x 12M per.
Igor is 100% a franchise goalie and in the grand scheme of things is probably worth that contract but NYR aren't winning a cup with that contract
Yep... he is one of the few goalies in the leauge who is undeniably eliteHe's been better than Sorokin the last couple years and it's reasonable for him to want to be the team's highest paid player. I predict he comes in at 8 x 12M per.
I know you have to pay your homegrown stars and of course goaltending is key to winning and going far in the NHL playoffs. Despite that, he has won nothing and don’t forget he looked like crap in the first half of last season.

"We are the champions, my friends
He is without a doubt an elite/franchise tier goalie and all things considered he is probably worth the contact he wants... but yea the rangers aren't winning the cup if they give igor 12 millionI know you have to pay your homegrown stars and of course goaltending is key to winning going far in the NHL playoffs. Does he deserve a big contract? Indeed he does but I’m glad the AAV is going to be extremely high and this deal has the potential to be an albatross for the Rags in a few years. Fingers crossed.
