I think the Rags are just getting it out of their system. Watch for them to hit their stride as the playoffs start.Devils look like they will be a tough out. Rags over achieved by a country mile last year and got lucky as shit, they’ll be an easy out this year.
80% of the league has the same issue. This isn't an issue that's endemic to the Islanders. There's a few destination spots and then there's the rest of the league. Players will land in those other spots here and there, but it is what it is. If the Rags want a player, they can have that player. The end.it really blows that the isles never sign any big name all stars who are free agents….long island, brand new arena, great fans, exciting competitve team, willing owners, but ok horrible state income tax…it never seems to be a problem for the rags…

The Kings won Stanley Cups and still couldn't get UFAs to sign there. This will not change for the Isles. They may win the lottery randomly one year like Columbus did with Gaudreau, but the Isles are not and never will be a destination spot. Players will always pick those half dozen premier destinations. This issue is made too big of a deal of. The reason the isles have not gotten any top UFAs has everything to do with playing in a dump of an arena for 30+ years, being a laughing stock for 20+ years, and having ownership/management that was completely inept.
The other thing is how will the playoffs be called? If the refs call games very tight and give out lots of power plays, the NYR could be very tough.I think the Rags are just getting it out of their system. Watch for them to hit their stride as the playoffs start.

I remember the Kings management complaining that they couldn't get anyone to sign there.Amd how do we know the Kings couldnt get UFA's? Uf anything the Kings would be a premiere destination.
Hard to tell with them. They are almost certainly playing Toronto in the first round regardless of how well they play out the season (if they play even .400 hockey the remainder of the season, then the cats would have to go over .750 the rest of the season to overtake them, which is pretty unlikely). So I do think it's possible they're just resting up for the playoffs and will look very different once those start. But we will see.Tampa is cooked. Lookin like Toronto will get their first round win

How are we still in a WC spot? I thought these games in hand were guaranteed points and we stood no chance at playoffs because teams had 10 points banked because of it? It’s mind boggling

It's going to be tight. I can see 1 team outside the playoffs right now make a big push. If Pitt hangs in there, they have games in hand and they are on a good clip right now 7-2-1. Isles will need to play better than they have to hold onto the final WC. Which would guarantee a shot a Boston. Anything can happen in the playoffs but I don't see Isles handling them this year. I know we beat them under Trotz, I don't get that sense this time around. How are we still in a WC spot?
