Glad to see Kieffer is getting another chance, still rooting for him to make it. But this seems like kind of an odd choice for him. With the Canes having no AHL affiliate, they seem like one of the least likely teams to get a contract with if he doesn't make his way onto the NHL roster out of camp. And with their forward depth and uptempo style, they also seem like one of the least likely teams for him to make it onto the NHL roster, unless he's made some massive improvements to his skating over the summer.

I kind of wonder if this means Svechnikov is not expected to be ready to go at the start of the season. With him healthy, they have 11 forwards on 1way deals, and then one has to assume Jarvis and Drury make the team again so that's 13 forwards. Is Kieffer really banking on being able to beat out both Ponomarev and Rees for that one roster spot? Or is there another spot available for the start the season?

Normally, I would guess the Canes plan to send both Ponomarev and Rees down for development unless they blow the doors off at camp, since they are both quite young still and could use the icetime. But without an affiliate and being able to control their icetime, that seems less likely to me. Then again, with that many forwards coming in on PTOs, there must be something available, so maybe that's all it is.

Also, just wanted to say, surprised to see Conacher's name pop up again. Figured he'd be playing out his days in Europe.

Odd choice? Might well be his only offer. Say hello to Europe Kieffer. A shame he couldn't figure it out. Very similar player to Chyzowski, just drafted a lot lower.

Very possible, but his AHL production was good enough that I'd have to think some team would be willing to give him a PTO to see if he can at least make their minors team. But I don't know, maybe he has an AHL or Europe deal on the table already that he's using as a back up if this doesn't pan out.

If Ladd retired one year earlier (he didn't play a game last season), then we would keep our 2023 3rd round pick, correct?

That ends that pipe dream. But Tatar couldn’t help us anyway. 4 pp points with NJ.

$1.5M for 1 yr in Colorado.

Dude, what's with the cheapshot? I'm the only person who brought up his 4 PP points and I have stated multiple times I thought he would be a good add, including in the posts where I mention his 4 PP points.

I guess sorry it upset you that I didnt agree a 32 year old on a 3 year decline in PP scoring and who couldn't score on a higher scoring PP would suddenly start scoring a year older on a lower scoring PP.

You weren’t the only one to mention his 4 pp points. Im fact you weren’t even the first one. And why are you being so thin-skinned? As a trash poster yourself I expected better out of you.

Whether Seph agrees with me or not has no bearing on my day. Maybe you should take a lap outside dude.

I'm literally the only one who mentioned it. But I guess this is what you do, so carry on.

Sorry man, I just don’t keep score here as closely as you do. Now go have the last word you crave.

He put more passion into this piece than his tenure as an Islander.
especially when I really believe he knew he was damaged goods and he would be missing alot of time when he signed his contract and he just wanted to sucker a team into give him that money and it was the Islanders

The Thrashers were fine. The city got screwed by a shitty owner who threw the franchise under the bus because he wanted to sell the Hawks. Another franchise would do fine there, especially since they're proposing to build the facility in the suburbs like they did with the Braves.
