It seems that there were a lot of NHL "quality" defensemen taken in that draft, and some of them very high end: Doughty, Pietrangelo, Bogosian, Myers, Karlsson, Gardiner, Del Zotto, Carlson, Voynov, Josi, Wiercioch, Schulz, Hamonic, Scandela, Schenn, Sbisa, etc..

According to some chart Luke retweeted ( I don't know how to source) the Canes play an opponent who played the night before (and the Canes are rested) 15 times and the inverse only happens 6 times. That would seem like a pretty decent advantage for the good guys. That said, they'll probably go 5-1 in the games where they aren't rested and 5-10 in the ones they are.

I recall the Canes had a pretty good record last year (at least mid way through the season) in Back to Back games, but I'm not sure how many of them were a case where the other team was rested and how many were cases where the other team was also in a B2B situation.

The split was 10 favorable and 11 unfavorable last year. Really dramatic shift this year.

Do you think Grabovski will be back from injury by then? Or do you think Ryan Strome will be enough to overcome our loss of Jeff Skinner in that fantastic trade we made.

Both questions are moot, as we'll be well out of the playoff hunt.

Here Skinner is, with his horrible concussion history playing PING PONG!!!! We dodged a bullet there boys. If one of those ping pong balls had struck him in the head, he'd have been lost for the season.

Yeah, but look how sweaty he is. If he's getting that much of a workout from freaking ping pong obviously his fitness is lacking.

Because it keeps popping up, I am proud to admit I was one of those one hit away people and glad he's become a different player and been healthy. He's more mature and complete and it's great to see

Detroit is now over the Cap with Mzarek left to sign. Mrazek just asked for $5 million as his arbitration value. Guess they are going to have to make some moves.

Can Francis double-down on his Cap dump treasure hunt?

Lack + 2nd
for
Nyquist + Howard ($1 million retained)

Isn't Franzen LTIR bound? If so that give's them a little cushion but not enough to sign Mrazek.
