$9.5 million in actual salary next year. That's just a ridiculous amount. As much as Malkin and more than everyone except Weber, Kane, Toews, Crosby, Kessel, Lundqvist, and Ovechkin.

That's why ANY talk of him being traded is, IMO, ridiculous. No team in the hunt can actually take that salary on, except maybe Ottawa (approx $14m in cap space IIRC), but the amount that would have to come back in Ottawa's case wouldn't change the makeup of the team. They'd be giving back too many effective players.

And that's the case with any contending team, IMO.

I agree. For better or worse, he's probably going to play out his contract here. Hopefully he gets healthy and at least makes next season somewhat worth it.

At least he only has one year left at that cost and not 3 more.

Also: Eric will sign a 6 year $6 million extension on July 2nd, in conjunction with Marc Staal signing his 7 year $6 million contract with the Canes. You know it to be true.

I just don't think there's room for Tlusty in the top 6 going forward, and I doubt he'll be a 20 goal scorer from the 3rd line with Rask/Nash and Gerbe. What's that worth? Honestly, 3x3 is probably the most I'd do if I were Francis, and I can't imagine Tlusty being happy with that otherwise he probably would have signed it after last year.

And apparently capgeek has ceased operations. One of my favorite sites. Best wishes to the founder.

I noticed that. Not good. NHLNumbers is OK but nowhere near as good or as functional a capgeek. REALLY hope this is just temporary, but I don't have my hopes up.
