I suspect it probably is, maybe to a rebuilding club like the Flyers (Laughton?), Sharks (Heartl?), Coyotes (Keller?), Flames (Lindholm?), or Jets if they decide to do that route (Lowry/MS55?). Or maybe to Devils for Sharagonvich?

But we must consider how deep this draft is, Avs might want to use them or move up from 27th to the mid-teens for a player they REALLY like (Danielson?).

Probably a little of both. Didn't want another Jost situation where they sat on him way too long and then got nothing. Didn't want to pay for the production they've gotten.

Think it’s a combination of this and getting good value back. The return screams that the Habs targeted Newhook and paid the price that the Avs were happy with. If Newhook was willing to sign a 1x1 mil deal and provided cheap scoring depth, we probably would’ve kept him.

Yes, but not as a Center. He's also a boom or bust guy at this point. Either he makes it as a Top 6 winger or he's in Europe within ~3 years IMO

I wouldn't worry bruv, Avs have been trading picks since they were deemed a lottery team all the way back in 2012 lol. The good thing is that certain GMs are suckers for draft picks, especially top 60 ones.

Very well could be. They are short on prospects in the system, so wouldn't be shocked at all if they re-signed JTC, and just drafted three players. Still, have to think they use at least one of those 1sts to target someone..

I honestly don’t have an issue with him.

Where I hate it is that he’s then the defacto 2C as soon as there’s an injury. I would prefer a different style center than him.
