Lundqvist is lucky 2 pucks from the blueline off the rush hit the post or we're talking about one of his worst performances all year.

He's been awful. Twice he looked to the ceiling on those shots because even he couldn't believe they beat him.

The 2 goals were atrocious as well.

We aRe winning inspite of him when we should be winning because of him. He's now. Top 5 highest laid player in the world the others? Ovechkin Crosby Malkin Perry. Those guys carry their teams. Hank has been killing his this season.

I'm very concerned. We'd be a top team in the east right now if he was playing like his normal self.

Youre insane.

Youre insane.

I think that's less insane than you think, but only because the East is so awful. I think Hank on his game easily gives us at least 7-8 more points on the season.

Would that make us a contender with how bad the forwards and D have looked for most of the season? Definitely not, but the East especially sucks this year.

Being better than where they are now vs. "top in the East" are 2 very different things.

a top team is different from the top team. if lundqvist had career averages in goaltending stats id bet wed have at least 6-7 more points. that put us within a win of 2nd most points in the east.

But the team is playing better in front of him, and that's what we need. He may be off or whatever's going on with him, but the skaters have made an effort to really pick up their men and get the puck out much more quickly.

As long as the team is "on", as we've seen, it won't matter whether it's 30 or 33 in there, very much.

pretty sure there are more than 4 guys making over $6,875,000.

That's the cap number. He's actually paid 5.125 this year and 11 mil next year.

For comparison, next year, in salary, he's making 3.5mil more than Rask and 4 mil more than Rinne, the two next highest paid goalies at this moment.

His cap hit among goalies is in third place this year, again behind Rask and Rinne. Next year he's tops.

Lundqvist currently has a 91.6 5v5 Sv%.

If he played at his "true" talent level, which Eric Tulsky estimates to 92.8%, he would've allowed 9 less goals than he currently has.

Since 6 goals represents one win (2p), we'd have 3 more points if he played at his regular level.

Low shooting- and save percentages isn't the only problem, we have the worst timing as well since the percentages get lower the closer the games get. They are bad from a general standpoint, get worse when the games are close, and are worst in the league when the games are tied.

I would say it is fair to say that the Rangers are one of, if not the unluckiest team in the league so far.

Is there a stat for that? Because it amazes me that someone who deploys stats so rigorously would conclude that "luck" is the determining factor.

Seriously this is not about luck. It's about strategy, hard individual efforts and playing as a team.

I don't understand what your and half of the boards confusion is about. He is clearly struggling this season which is due both to the change of style of play in front of him as well as the reduction in pad size. It will take time but he will adapt to the changes.

The pad size reduction has more of an impact than just 2 extra inches of pad on the ice. Every single movement and all of his angles he's known throughout his entire hockey life have been changed. This is why earlier in the season he was testing new positioning by coming out further to cut down some of the angle he lost with the pad reduction. The fact that people are calling his career over is ridiculous.

The way that half the board is putting all the blame on him and none on the team in front of him shows how clueless those people are. It doesn't matter if the third or fourth goal of the game was a softie if all we score is one or no goals in the game.

Another thing that a lot of the board seems to be confused about is what is considered a soft goal. Just because he lets in a goal that he would have stopped 75% of the time in previous seasons does not make it soft. He has had zero puck luck this season. The goal last night that was hit out of the air and put through his legs is a perfect example of this. The boards reaction last night was "here we go again". It was an elevated pass about 2 feet off the ice that was going about 3 feet wide of the net that was bat down and in the back of the net in under 1 second.

tldr: Henrik is struggling and he will bounce back. The board needs to get their panties out of a bunch.

Hank have had his pads reduced I don't know how many times in the NHL already, lol I remember it being an issue before the 06' OGs.

The stick is also smaller.

This is the first time Hank really have struggles durin his career. Nobody goes through an entire career without struggling. Look at AO, had like 1 PP goal during 42 games or whatever, then he wins the Hart.

I also thought Hank was shaky against Dallas. A lot of things has affected his game, from equipment to system to confidence to contract and what not. I don't for a second think Hank is done or fears that he won't recover, but it could take some time. Meanwhile, great that we have Talbot.

Blue Blood- Do you have a way of looking at Sh% of teams with real elite threats from the blueline in relation to the rest?

I think this impacts pretty much how many per cent of the shots you score on. I don't think D scoring as whole from the blueline helps much though, because N-S teams get quite many secondary assists.

It might be hard to single out with stats, but if you are dangerous from the blue line you open up space down low. It's definitely easier to collapse against a team like us that don't have that threat.

I'm assuming you loved watching torts system and butthurt with his departure.
That is an absolutely fantastic argument. You have won me over.

Yes, I enjoyed watching success and hard work and the team playing for each other.

Now answer my question. Is my presumption correct? You have loved the way the system worked all year, yes? Not just during this spell? You have loved the fantastic 5 on 5 play all year, yes?
