This may have been asked before, but if Fox was in this draft (2019), where do you think he would have been taken?
This question was asked a few days ago I think. Someone replied with Top 15

If he had just put up the numbers he did as a undrafted 17-18 year old freshman? Top 5.This may have been asked before, but if Fox was in this draft (2019), where do you think he would have been taken?
If Fox put up the numbers he just did (highest PPG average for a NCAA defenseman all time) and he was 17 or 18, he's a mortal lock for 3rd overall after Hughes and Kakko. If he had just put up the numbers he did as a undrafted 17-18 year old freshman? Top 5.
You're right. If Fox put up the numbers he just did (highest PPG average for a NCAA defenseman all time) and he was 17 or 18, he's a mortal lock for 3rd overall after Hughes and Kakko.

Yep. It happens. That's why Hughes went Number One. There was way more to it than one bad game or tourney.Honestly?
The only times I've seen him play was the entire IIFH tournament, but given all the "hoopla" I heard, I was pretty disappointed in his play.
Fox wound up being an initial option, and then wound up being protected & having his minutes cut by the coaching staff. Now, GRANTED, this is a YOUNG kid being foisted onto an elite stage, so I do get that. I think he's 100% going to be an NHL player, it's just that I disagree with the view that he's going to be #1, #2, and IMO based on what I saw I think he's going to be #3, #4, #5. Now, ADMITTEDLY, I could be wrong as this is only based on about 7 games, but it's all I have to go on.

I don't disagree with your assessment, in fact, I think you nailed it on the head. I don't quite see top pairing upside in Fox, but do I think he'll be a #4 or #3 best case QB'ing the first PP unit on an NHL team? I do. I think he'll need some AHL time too; I don't quite see him as much as a plug and play prospect as some may think.Honestly?

If he doens't become a bona fide #1 dman, he'll be close
This is violence. However he also had Kravtsov around 36 and said he doesn't see major offensive upside and he will likely be a 50-60 point playerHe said Miller just missed the cut too.
Scott Wheeler has him ranked as the #10 best drafted prospect.
Wheeler: The top 50 drafted NHL prospects ranking, 2019... (paywall)
Quite a high praise. However he also had Kravtsov around 36 and said he doesn't see major offensive upside and he will likely be a 50-60 point playerHe said Miller just missed the cut too.

Probably just looked at his raw KHL point totals and made an assumption.Scott Wheeler has him ranked as the #10 best drafted prospect.

yeah, but he is 21 so i think it would be fair to ask where he'd be if he was the max draft age.If he had just put up the numbers he did as a undrafted 17-18 year old freshman? Top 5.

Scott, how far off was Nils Lindqvist? More importantly, what is his projection?

@Benjamin M. He would be in a top-100. Middle six winger who plays an effective though unspectacular game. Love that kid. He has figured out what makes him work, now he needs to master it.
Hmmm.

So they're AV?Scott Wheeler is a clown. Makes up his mind on players pre draft and then spends the next few years sticking to his initial thoughts and build his analysis from there. Him and Pronman are two guys who make up their minds and have players they like and others they don’t.
I put a lot more stock in what Pronman says than Wheeler.Scott Wheeler is a clown. It’s nice to hedge on Kravtsov from his POV. Basically frame his analysis as “well I didn’t say he wouldn’t be good, just that he won’t be a superstar.” Bush league stuff. In the comment section he says he’s pushing back against the “extreme hyperbole” surrounding Kravtsov now. So is he analyzing the players or pushing back on narratives?
He should frankly be embarrassed to have Kravtsov below some of the players he does. Fox included. It’s one thing to not think he’s a future star, but to think he’s 36th ranked prospect? That’s ridiculous imo. Not even having Miller on the list is another thing.
