Do they have any plan to trade away any of their current players or will they look for a quick fix this offseason?

What they need to do is analyze who has the best amateur scouting staff, pro scouting staff, and player development programs and give them triple their salary to come work here. Find out who is pulling gems out of rounds 2-7 and make them an offer they can't refuse.. They have had far too many years where they miss on an entire draft. What really kills me is when they use a pick and three years later, not only is the guy not an NHL player, but he also doesn't even play hockey anymore. That tells me you didn't know shit about that guy.

Triple salary isn't enough to live in manhattan

The plan will be to relieve Laviolette after the final game. More likely Drury will remain as GM and be on his last chance. There will be a lot of hiring and firing with scouts, coaches and analysts. A lot of changes will be made.

There is a lot of talk that Kreider & Zibanejad are the primary players on the chopping block with K. Miller also a strong candidate to be traded (along with others depth players: Soucy, Jones, Parsinnen etc).

It is expected these players will be traded before the draft to build trade capital and create salary space to look at a decent piece or 2 in UFA.

The only guaranteed vets for next season will be Igor, Fox, Panarin, JT Miller & Trocheck. It is likely that NYR will give up their 1st round pick to Pittsburgh this year, (unless they win the lottery), as next year's draft is much stronger and they don't want to risk an unprotected pick being made available.

Any plan that isn't to clean out the front office is the wrong one. Goodrow. Trouba. Kakko. Jones. Now you've got Calvin De Haan talking shit?

It's not that they're not a good team. It's that management has treated their players like shit and the players have seemingly checked out.

That's not just a problem contained to the current locker room. There's no way UFAs and players with NTCs don't see the way the Rangers treat their players and consider if they really want to work there.

Seems we’ve lost the “first-class organization” status amongst players.

You can argue a lot of things, but it has all gotten worse the last few years—player performance, front-office work, development…drafting has been rough…

Drury came in as a cut-throat. That’s one way to fight a country club atmosphere, but he’s maybe gone too far the other way and has lost the confidence of the players. No easy fix now,

There really needs to be a clean-out on multiple levels. While it can easily go on like this, it’s a quick way to just flounder in mediocrity for a decade +.

Drury needs to not be both President & GM in one, too much for him to handle at once apparently and it's shown. Rangers need a proper President (should've been Davidson) and to fumigate a portion of the coaching staff again.
As far as trades go, Drury in the past year has done what most people wanted him to do by moving out some of those contracts which were seen as impossible tasks to apparent "experts" here on HF but it HAD to be done otherwise there really wouldn't be any chance of adapting the makeup of the team. IMO, give Drury another chance, can Lavi, can Housley, promote Peca as HC, give JT Miller the C, try and spend a little extra for an available top-4 LHD that is actually better than K.Miller with some of the forward depth, and go into training camp fresh in September with a new mindset.

Rangers should not panic yet and go NUCLEAR. They were never going to be as hot as the 23-24 season but they shouldn't have been as cold as the 24-25 season. I think next season they end up somewhere in the middle, which is where they should've been this season but the drama snowballed and there were too many bodies moving to & fro.

Keep the 2025 1st and hopefully get some actual lottery luck for a player that can actually make a difference to the franchise for once, ideally a LHD that can make the jump as soon as possible.
Or, use that pick in a package to make a big time splash for someone that will change the outlook of the team, like a Peterka or Zegras type.

If Drury can do stuff like that and wipe some of the slate clean then I think the Rangers will be in a much better place both mentally/physically next season.

Drury would shove Zibanejad's mother under a moving bus if it would get him one more year in the job. Kreider will be getting the Trouba treatment and forced to accept a trade somewhere he doesn't want to be.

He's gonna pull a Babcock/Marner move.

Have Kreider rank teams he wants to go to, least to most. Then trade him to the one he least wants, and post the list on Twitter, tagging that team.

Sharks fan coming in peace. What’s a fair package from the Sharks for K. Miller and Zibanejad looks like? Obviously there is the Grier connection, so that probably helps Drury choose to pick up the phone; and I think the Sharks have cap space and roster deficits where both players may be more valuable to the Sharks than other teams.

As a conversation starter, here is a proposal:

:rangers
2025 SJS #2nd (#33OA)
Filip Bystedt (2022 #27OA)
Henry Thrun/Jack Thompson

:sharks
Zibanejad ($1.5M retained)
K’Andre Miller

In the case that I’m way off (I probably am) here’s other assets I think Sharks fan’s would arguably put on the table as part of some package:

Picks:
25 DAL 1st, 25 OTT 2nd
26 EDM 1st, 26 SJS 2nd, 26 COL 2nd

Anyone not named: Celebrini, Smith, Eklund, Askarov, Dickinson, Chernyshov, Mukhamadullin

They don't need to live in Manhattan. Who would you be scouting in Manhattan, Joey Mullen?

I want rink nerds who would be watching minor games in their free time, not washed-out, old boy pros who need a gig to keep their lifestyle going so their trophy wife doesn't step off and do all their scouting on Youtube.

I want them working like a private detective going to prospects school and talking to his teachers. Does he do his work or is he an entitled punk who thinks he's gonna take the easy route?

I want to know if he has a fake ID. I want to know if he's in the bars. I want to know if he's a player jumping in and out of different beds every night. If he's a guy who's going to embarrass the organization with a sexual assault charge or pop up online beating the shit out of some civilian, I want no part of him.

I want to know what his favorite meal is. If he says f***ing hot dogs like that POS Pavel Brendl did, then I don't want any part of him.

Is he a rich kid who acts like one or is he a lunch pail guy? Does he have a job? How does he treat waitresses?

I want to know how many times a week he goes to the gym. I want to know if he skipped leg day this week. I want the pathological psycho who doesn't give a rat's ass about anything other than becoming an NHL player. I want the players who are motivated from within, not because they are afraid of coach.

Scouting 17-year-old kids is as much scouting the character if the individual as it is their skills. You are not going to have a good team culture if you're building with bad materials.

Bottom line is we get guys who don't work hard because nobody in the organization works hard. They don't do the hard work, and they can't tell the difference between someone who will and someone who won't because of it. That's why we pick guys who aren't even playing hockey anymore in their D+3 season. Because nobody did the hard work.

Our director of player development is Jed Ortmeyer, his assistants are Tanner Glass and Marc Staal. As far as I am concerned, they can all GTFOH and Uber out with Laviolette when he gets shown the door because they haven't developed jack other than a growing culture of discontent amongst players about how they have been treated by the organization. That used to be what we brought that was different. Now it's different alright. There are about 10 guys running around the league that are going to be telling everyone they know that this place treats you like shit. Nice job.

Drury can clean his desk out too. Burn this MF'er all the way down. Benoit Allaire is the only guy I ain't throwing out with the bath water.

They'd be outright morons to keep drury. I've never seen a first time GM fail as hard as he has.

Dolan likes yes men and Drury is exactly that. He is Dolan's little lap dog that kisses his ass at every turn, that's why he is still with the organisation and likely still will be for next season at least.
