5-holeAnyone have a book on this guy?
You’re kidding, right?Yeah!!
I hope he has an extremely good explanation because his delay could definitely end up really hurting he development of 20-30 kids in our system, unbelievable. Now it’s quite obvious that he has been free to come at any time. It’s a disaster that it has taken this long.
Who will coach in the AHL? Which players will he have, we can’t be in on any free agents outside the NHL when we don’t have a coach to talk to. The coach we get for that place should preferably be able to assume a quite major duty since Drury — obviously — aren’t up for the task to GM that team. Who is available for that role now??? All these guys signed a long long time ago.
So it seems like we will end up with some panick solution signed in like what, July lol? He will have no say on his roster. It will be someone that nobody else wanted that probably will get 2-3 years down there once we have invested in him.
Sathers incompetence continues to hurt us. For how much longer?
This move doesn’t do much more me honestly, it just seems like a typical, lazy Ranger move going after a well known name with ties to the organization. If he allows Gorton to continue to run the Hockey Operations like he wants to do, then it’s ok move. I just wish they actually went in a new, fresh, and modern direction with a young person that would work with Gorton.

They have a young coach. JD has a ton of experience and did some great things with Columbus. This is his homecoming, and now the stage is set for a new era in Rangerland.
Thats what its shaping up to be.
now only if we have have a liberty logo 3rd jersey
Like who?

That and Sam's ear to ear combover.Looking forward to seeing Sam's ear to ear smile when he goes up to the booth for the first time during the season
Welcome home JD!
I’m not denying that, I’m just not a fan of that that it appears from a optics standpoint that it was JD and nobody else. I would’ve preferred a new face without Ranger ties, I think JD as long as allows Gorton to do what he’s doing with a some guidance is a solid thing. I just want a complete overhaul of how things are done, but I hope it works out.
Yeah because bringing guys like Gorton and Quinn on board have been such lazy moves.
Also, the bold is horribly ageist and presumes that JD isn't going to worth Gortom.
In which way?
FWIW, I'm glad they stayed away from the Leafs guys, though MacIssac would have been a solid candidate.
I never said that, I said I preferred a fresh, new outlook on the organization and how it was built. The big issue with the Sather era was how insular the organization was and how behind the times they always seemed to be how teams were built and how they played. JD had a good runs as President of STL and CBJ, but nothing there tells he going to push the Rangers to the next level based on what he has done. I hope it works out, but I have my doubts, is all.

JD was in the TV booth during all our worst seasons. Did he ever question anything? Total tool, he just didn’t understand the modern game, and like why should he?? Tortorella has been ‘his’ coach in CBJ — smart move! STL and CBJ have been very mediocre organization, but CBJ have had one thing. A really good scouting organization, especially in europe, I wonder who built that one?..
Slats have been a dead man walking on the job forever. Gorts. Has managed to wrestle control of the NHL team, doing a good job taking it into the rebuild and the first phases of it. Our farm system is among the worst in the league. Our pro scouting and manage positions has been full of guys like Schoney, Barnett and the likes snoozing on the job. Gorton brought in two totally inexperienced company men, great, but do they know what they are doing? First day at work still for these guys.
One cup in 80 years, we are content with meritocracy, no wonder...
