i do wonder how someone like Grabner or Fasth would look on the line with Hayes and Nash...I just feel like that line needs something else that Zucc just isnt a fit for.

I'd consider doing something like...
KZB
Grabner - Hayes - Nash
Fasth - Miller - Zucc
Boo, and like 2 guys not named DD or Vesey.

Until Chytil is ready, it looks like this team has two holes to fill

KZB
Miller/xxx/Zucc
xxx/Hayes/Nash
Grabner/Nieves/Fast

I can see it now:

This team will grind out JUST enough wins this year to a) save this ****ty coach his job, b) convince the FO that they have a chance and thus deal assets for rentals and c) play themselves out of a meaningful pick in the next draft (assuming that is that they still have their 1st rounder when it matters).

A year of outright mediocrity. Maybe they'll sneak in to the post-season, and then get dumped in the 1st round. Yay. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

Yeah thats why I can't get excited about this team anymore. 6 straight wins? 100+ point season? Meh, just wait for the playoffs and witness the glaring mistakes an AV run hockey team does when it really matters.

Completely different game if Hank gets the same quick whistle on the first goal that Crawford got.

Completely different yea but I didn't see any injustice there. Crawford had the puck covered (albeit only for a moment, but I've never felt the goalie should have to defend against jabs to be entitled to a whistle). Lundqvist never had control of his puck.

Tough loss. But they showed some moxy after giving up the lead. Fought back...just not enough.

Another tough game ahead of them. Its like a gut check

Oh no we suck again

No... but still a stubborn coach with a system predicated on top talent to execute effectively on a consistent basis. ... if you thought a 6g win streak meant anything but that for this version of the rangers.... well...that's on you....

I can agree with the jab argument, not like there’s ever been any consistency with calls like that anyway.

Maybe I’m remembering it poorly, but in real time it seemed like Hank had the puck long enough that a whistle wouldn’t have been the craziest thing in the world, but again, I may be overestimating the consistency of NHL officiating.

Another loss vs a playoffs team just strengthen my theory that we should not aim for wildcard this year - not that we can do much they will try to win each game.

Arty with the greasiest hatty i've seen in a long time. The Hayden goal was **** as well, so many whacks the Hawks had after Hank makes the first stop. This team simply CANT clear the crease/rebounds like I see so many teams around the league do quite easily. Hank has not been vintage, but his D is not doing him any favors, he often makes very difficult saves but I feel like 90% of the goals this team gives up are garbage goals.

Thats why this team needs Smith back in the lineup. He is probably the most physical Dman we have and despite his really poor play early in the year he deserves a chance to get back on the ice especially when Kampfer will be the one that sits.

In a game where the Rangers completely failed to clear the crease, and Smith can do that better than anyone on this team, yeah I agree.

Yeah, this is probably the best thing to happen for Smith and the team, in terms of ending a controversy that would continue to brew the longer he sits and in terms of exposing a defensive flaw that is one of Smith's attributes -- clearing people out from the net.

Lmao Hank thought he had the puck saved anyway...not much he can do there. The team just went to shit in the third and if it wasn't for Hank, this game could've had many more goals.

Why is Miller out with Desharnais? Really?

The defensive coverage was a complete joke. People could have sat in the slot and had tea.

Mhm, yep. This is definitely true and not a complete overreaction. Yup, great analysis.

You know what, go ahead and give me YOUR analysis... Tell me McDonagh had a good game. Tell McDonagh has been *STERLING* this season.

Hint hint, he hasn't been.

The team clearly played like ****, but Lundqvist is just not cutting it anymore and our good backups are in Edmonton and Arizona. We're not going to score 4 every game, hell we scored 3 today. Once again, awful play, 43 shots on goal by Chicago. But there was a time when you saw 43 shots on goal and weren't surprised if you saw a shutout. Now I'm shocked by any game Hank gives up less than 3. That's not going to cut it, we're not the 84 Oilers or even the 17 Pens.

Are you even watching the f***ing game? How can anyone blame this game on hank?

Staal and Kampfer were on the ice for like ten odd man rushes against, but because the odd man rushes against McDonagh and Shattenkirk went in, it's their fault.

Our bottom pair got absolutely curb-stomped tonight but nobody will talk about it.

Kampfer was by far the worst player on the ice for both teams.... What a f***ing awful player.
