Fourth line was great, but good Lord AV, they shouldn't be on the ice every other shift. Hayes line didn't see much ice as game wound down. Nash was awful. Malkin was a beast.
Well, they were gettin abused, so - it's a miracle - I agree with Av's decision.

Haha, is that Crosby diving again?

I'd like to see McDonagh and Skjei play together. Those two could play nearly half the game. We could give Shattenkirk all of the PP, and then there would be less minutes for the bad defensemen.
They've had in the past, when they were experimenting with Skjei as a RD.

And the other half we would be scored a bazillion times. I'm not confident in Smith-Shattenkirk pair to defend and Staal-Holden you already know what an abortion it is.

After the way the pens beat us last game (scoring from behind the net off the goalie after our d man should have never touched the puck on a delayed high stick call) I don't care if we scored a fluke goal and they hit 20 posts. Wasn't a great game but we had some high danger chances we couldn't bury either.

Malkin really was very good tonight. He didn't get one, so that is good but he is back. Not like I am saying anything new about him. I loved seeing him fail. Made me feel good :)

I know I am making a thing about Jarry's bad luck but he made some good stops too, and the Rangers did have some very good quality chances, I completely agree.

If all the Stars align, there is a chance this team could tie the NHL record for most players with 20 or more goals. 11 by the 77/78 Bruins.

I understand the point you are making, but you gotta make a decision. Do we want to shut down their top players or make all the pairings kind of even? I'd rather not watch Holden try to defend Crosby's and Ovechkin's every game. I think we would be better off loading up on the top end of our defense.

I feel like a lot of people don't understand this because AV doesn't do this with his teams, but there are teams that give their 5th and 6th defensemen no more than like 15 per game, and have their best play nearly 30 minutes and always above 25 minutes. AV splits up the playing time evenly, and when you don't have a good defense, I don't think that makes much sense, if you are trying to get into the playoffs.

It was fast paced and scrambly throughout which kind of should play into the Pens hands especially with Henrik out--but Pavelec was really good tonight and the team was resilient and lucky sometimes but even so--the players came to play. Our d-men only had two shots on goal the whole night both from Skjei--the Penguins were blocking lots of shots.

Congrats to Boo on his first NHL goal. The entire 4th line had a strong night. Fast is a great bottom 6 player and Carey has been playing better and is getting some points now too. Just think they could use some kudos for the game they played tonight.

Funny and this is why I thought we'd win tonight and I said this on the GDT before game started, it just seems like when we the odds are against us and we aren't supposed to win like for sure it was tonight as Pens were heavily favored , for some reason the boys play smart disciplined hockey and it seems as if the hockey gods and puck luck goes our way.

And the opposite occurs often times when we are in the drivers seat and a W looks like a sure thing and than we end up shitting the bed. There's been alot of those but the game vs Florida comes to mind very vividly of a game we played down to the competition and we ended up getting bit in the ass.

I dunno, tonight's win kind of reminds me of the game vs the Lightening a few weeks ago when most peeps thought we were going to get pulverized yet the opposite occurred and we ended up taking home the W in their barn.

Who the f*** knows if I'm right or not but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

We will lose games we deserve to win as well, thats hockey. Think of tonight when that happpens. They all even out... kinda.

Team has really done a good job after our start to the season. It was almost lost in October but we're right there.

Pittsburgh is such a weird frustrating team. They look so beatable in so many ways (give up lots of chances etc) but they counter punch so well and have the firepower to go toe to toe with most other teams as long as they get halfway decent goaltending

Exactly. And the flipside is that the Rangers have gone .500 (almost) against them during the last 4 or so years.
The thing about hockey is that you never can say exactly what happened. Jarry did not look solid to me tonight, yet all I heard about here was how bad Pavelec looked even though Pavelec stopped the regular stuff and more.
That's hockey. A million different opinions.
