I can understand blaming Girardi, but it did seem like the Ranger forwards all blew the zone leaving Danny Boy facing three King forwards. It's OT, not the first period. Yes, he missed up, however, he had no support at all.

When you're at the dots and the closest Kings are at the blueline, 99/100 times that pass is made.

I know he slipped. Again, there are 10 things he could've done other than make a hasty pass directly to the Kings.

edit- Closest Kings besides the guy a some feet away who doesn't even have time to really pressure him before G makes the bad pass.

Reasons I'm so upset at last nights loss:

1. Want to see Hank get a cup so bad, he deserves it and it sucks that so many lesser goalies have rings while he doesn't.

2. Want to see Staal get a cup so bad to join his brothers as a Stanley Cup Champion.

3. Glen Sather...this is his last chance to win a cup and go out a winner. It's been so long since his dynasty Edmonton days, I'd love to see this happen for him.

4. A.V. as coach deserves a cup. Great guy, great coach, and should have won it all in 2011. He's awesome, I love this guy. Win or lose this finals, he's my all-time favorite coach.

5. It's been 20 years. L.A. won a cup 2 years ago, they don't need another one. We as die-hard Rangers fans DESERVE a cup, especially having to wait 54 years for the last one.

If we don't win the cup this year, we may well be looking at another 54 plus year drought imo. We are not the Devils, who make the finals 5 times in 20 years or whatever. This is our shot. I was so depressed after the game I couldn't sleep at all last night.

What happened last night was exactly what I feared would happen. We'd get a solid start, a good lead, and then blow it and lose a crushing, heart-breaking loss. It was EXACTLY what I feared the most.

Please, if anyone has any reassuring words, I could use them right now. I'm crushed. :(

Sucks, but the boys played well. Get it back.

rangers need to do a better job of capitalizing on our chances.

very even game. we dominated the first. they dominated the 3rd, OT and 2nd were a tossup.

Lots of good in this game.

AV, Ulf and the staff will cover some of this stuff before Game 2.

It's one game. Rangers win game 2 and everyone goes into MSG feeling good. Of course you want to win Game 1 since it takes a bit of pressure off, but it is what it is.

Pretty much all of this.

It is one game, and despite the lopsided 3rd they still almost found a way.

This series is far from over.

Its been longer for the Leafs, Flyers, Isles, Calgary, Edmonton.
Its been never for the Blues, Sabres, Canucks...

No team deserves the Cup. It is only won.

And....Both teams played on the same ice. Ice is just an excuse, not the reason.

I get where you're coming from, but you only DESERVE what you GET, and nothing more.

This would all be nice to see, but nobody DESERVES it until they get up and make it happen.

Keep the faith boys. Chin up. Best of 7 series. Game 1 will likely seem like an eternity away by the time this series is over.

The Rangers looked nervous last night, especially in overtime. It wasn't just Girardi's turnover, but they turned the puck over fast a few times in overtime, a few times in the Kings' end.

They were playing against Montreal like they had nothing to lose; and they never trailed in that series. Against Pittsburg they had nothing to lose too; they were clear underdogs. Suddenly they're in the finals and the cup is within reach. It's a crunch moment; now lose this series fast and nobody's going to remember much about this run.

They look scared frankly, nervous with the puck, like they need a shot of confidence. Even the way they talked about the Kings after the game; such a great team, etc., etc.

The Kings physical play shook them up maybe?

They need to push back big time in the next game; compete; every man, every shift. That was what was missing in the third period last night and in overtime too.

Sub par performance by my Kings but a win, Rangers out played us for 2 1/2 periods. I under estimated you guys. Woke up a winner but know you guys will bring it on Saturday. Keep it classy New York, Hockey is a game of pride but you should always respect your oponent. Doesnt matter what town your team plays in, the color of your skin WE ARE HOCKEY and we shake hands when it's all said and done.

Good Luck Rangers-

It's a 7 game series and last night was game 1. Those are your reassuring words.

Not to mention that the Rangers play their best hockey when their backs are against the wall and we are 2 losses away from that happening.

As luck may have it, we have found one of the only other teams that is extremely dominant but eases up when the times are good. This series could and should go the distance with plenty of ups and downs to be had from both fan bases.

To say Quick wan't tested is laughable at best and dishonest at worst.

I'll bite.

What other game breaking save did he make besides Hagelin's breakaway with 40 seconds left? Every other quality chance the Rangers had was flubbed or shot wide.

My only impression of the game was that I found it to be less tense than any others this post-season. Didn't think it had that many great moments.

I think it's because early on the Rangers looked so good and that as it went along, it felt like LA had a blanket over the Rangers.

We've come too far and gone through too much to just lay down and die. Last night sucked but it's only Game 1. We've been told that we are too small, too weak and not offensively gifted enough to do any damage in the post season yet look where we are.

Blows that we have to wait an extra day to get this taste out of our mouths but I trust AV will use it to his advantage. Again, it's only Game 1 and someone has to win it. I'll be worried if we are trailing in the waning minutes of Game 3 in a 2-0 series.

No one said it'd be easy and we are the Rangers. When have we ever made it easy?

Onto Game 2.

Only THREE players on this team have won a cup. Compared to 17 on the Kings.

It's obvious many we're nervous and aren't used to this type of media attention/pressure to win it all.

I think they will be more comfortable with their game on Saturday night. They have to keep it simple.

While a win in game one would have been ideal I think it's far from the end of the world. Was a frustrating game especially the 3rd period it felt pretty uncharacteristic of this team to play like that which I will take as a good sign.

Went head to head with them for 40 minutes and didn't look totally outmatched and Lundqvist kept us in it when we disappeared in the third. Make that a 60 minute effort and I think we take it. We had quite a few solid chances and we'll need to finish those chances going forward.

Not that disappointed honestly, expected to be down in this series at some point. Might as well be in the early stages of it.

The problem with thinking the NYR don't play well until their facing elimination is that eventually that catches up to you.

This would not be the team to wait until your facing elimination to show what you really have.
